Politics aside were there any boats sunk on Table Rock? This morning’s news mentioned the event but nothing about mishaps.

That job should be done as soon as you quit burning for the season. It will get cleaner and clean up essier.

It was cloudy and pretty nice here all day. My wife said she would like to be in the boat for a while so I hooked up and headed back down to Stockton. Well the weather changed. It cleared off and the mile high sky took over. To top it off the wind was straight out of the east. When the wind is from the east ......... I went to my most productive area. I didn’t get anything out but 2 buzz baits and a spinner bait. I had 5 blowups on the white buzzer, none of which took the bait. Nothing was interested in the black one at all. I started throwing the spinner bait and managed 6 shorts. I tried several other places and couldn’t get a bite on any of my 3 baits. I went back to the first area and had 2 short hits on the spinner bait. I refused to tie on anything else. They were going to take one of my offerings or go hungry. So I put out the fire and called the dogs. So since it couldn’t have been ineptitude on my part I choose to blame; mile high sky, wind from the east, post frontal, or two days in a row on the same spots. I just can’t decide which one of them to choose.

Good arrow flinging there bud. I was lucky to be able to find my arrows shooting at a 6’x6’ back stop.😂

My guess would be east of Hwy 65. I have a little place down in Stone County. I have never seen any or heard of any in that area coyotes, coons, dillos, a few bob cats, occasional fox, a rare cougar but never a bear. Several years ago my s-i-l saw one in his back yard near Wilson’s Creek Battlefield. I imagine if one came through Stone it would be lucky to get out alive.

Maybe my original post wasn’t clear. I have some molds and make my own baits. I just can’t get it down as to how to make them work. Here are the two types that I can make.

I hit that whole area with spinner and buzz baits yesterday.....no action at all. I may go back down there this afternoon because all of the boat traffic and weather change may kill my bite.

I’ve heard that from others but never had the experience. I’ve often thought that white bass should be in that swag on the south east end with a good wind but never have caught one there.

When my wife is in the boat, she always wants me to idle through that area. I’ve heard it called that but have never seen any monkeys on it, For me it is a place to use baits that I am mad at because I definitely leave a bunch of them in the rocks and timber.

A lot of those spinner bait fish were on the follow up after bass blew up behind the buzz and would not take it on additional casts. I was using white and black buzz baits. I never had anything on the black.

Only 4 were keepers with some others close. All over that area there is standing timber. Some of it is showing but a lot of it isn’t. It can be a little dicey as you approach the island at the mouth of Turkey Creek. There are lots of trees there.

I had some time this am so I headed back down to Stockton. I tried the same areas with the same baits except I had a swim bait tied on. There were lots of shad on top so I fished the swim bait in and under them. No love. I did get a couple on buzz bait chasing shad. I wound up with 17 bass with 10 on the buzzer and 7 on the spinner. Basically the same places they were Wednesday evening.

There is a guy on Bass Boat Central trying to sell an LSS1. I thought they were better than the 2.

Thanks. I believe there are quite a few fish to be caught like that right no but I can only do it for short periods as I am rehabing from hand surgery which is taking a lot longer that I would have thought.

Are you done with the treatments? What advice has your doctor given you?

Yep that is how mine have worked. I also have a mold for heads I want to mate them and catch fish that way.

I have paddle tail and a Keitech knock off molds. I have tried both with minimal success. Would some of you swim bait guys mind tossing out some pointers, like where when and how you use them? I would like for them to do more than take up space in the boat.

It got cloudy and cool yesterday afternoon so I decided to try some early evening fishing. I got on the water at 4:30 and fished until 7:30. I found some spinner bait fish and managed 8 on a bleeding shad. Then I gave that sistyugler jig that I made yesterday a workout. I only had one thump on it with no takers. I switched to my old standby shaky and only had 1. I saw a lot of shad in some very skinny water back in a pocket so I picked up the setup with a white buzz bait. 7 bass got serious about it while some others just blew up behind it. All in all it was a fun 3 hours. I totaled 16 largemouths with only had 3 keepers but averaged a fish about every 12 minutes. I’ll take that kind of action any day. Next cool afternoon after Labor Day they better look out.

I’d try something like Totally Awesome from Dollar General on one bait. Everything else that comes to mind will strip the original finish.

I’ll keep that in mind for later. Right now I am wanting slow fall as the fish I have been catching are 6-10’ deep on a 45° bank. 1/2 oz jigs are needed for the desired distance and setup. I have been using black living rubber jigs. I just thought I would change up the colors some, not expecting to get a sistyugler.

I always make 4-6 when I try something new because I seldom go after a hung up bait. I give them 3-4 trips tp produce. If they don’t, then I leave them in a zip lock bag on the courtesy dock so someone else can use them. If things go as planned they will be getting wet Friday morning.

Yesterday I was mixing some used plastic, a variety of browns and green. I added black die and red glitter. I came up with a strange greenish blackish trailer. Today I mixed up some skirt tab colors. I think that the combination is butt ugly. I can’t decide if I want to spend the time to make up some. If I saw them in a store I boubt I would buy any. Do you think I would be waisting my time making and fishing them?

I’ve caught several from the bank along the north side from the dam East toward the boat house.
