That sounds like a super day. We had for us a great day up the James but it was on shaky. I didn’t get a bite on a swim bait. We both also tried the Ned but they didn’t want it either.
My neighbor and I went down this morning. Last trip we had 8 spinnerbait fish so I had 3 tied on. We hit some of the same water and some new water. Not even a feels good. We were in 8-10 fow and I was seeing all kinds of stuff on 2d and down so we pulled out to 14 and started using Elaztech worms on my diy EWG Shaky head which is very similar to the ones that Jades Jigs has. We used the 3/16 and 5/32 mostly but 1/8 sometimes. We caught fish immediately and often. When we left that area we had 28 with 4 keepers. It was his turn to pick. We went to his bluff and had 12 more with an additional 2 keepers. I picked the last area, another bluff. My bluff gave up 12 more with 1 keeper. So we finished the day with 52 bass 7 of which were keepers.
We also had 4 goggle eyes and a nasty old flat head. The air was 64-84° and the water was 82-88° on my Birds.
I’ve decided to sell some stuff that I don’t often use. I’m starting with a couple of my Gloomis rods. I want to sell them together. I’ll take $300 for the pair local pickup or $350 shipped to lower 48 states.
You are not going to find a unit that will do that. Your best bet will be to find a unit with a gps that will accept a map card that has the river channels in the lakes marked. You will get more bang for your buck if you can find someone who is trading up and buy his good used unit. Two of the large fishing/boating sites have for sale forums, Bass Resource and Bass Boat Central.
My neighbor and I fished it today. We went up as far as Carrs. We threw spinnerbaits in skinny water several places and wound up with 4 each (3) keepers. After that we fished our way back with TRDs and Zeros. The Zeros were way better than the TRDs. We caught 25 on the way back (1) keeper. We did have several 14 inchers but also some dinks. Watermelon red, green pumpkin and Alabama craw were the producers rigged weedless on 2/0 wide gap VMC hooks on 1/8 and 3/32 Midwest Finesse heads.
My birds showed water temps from 85-90°. The air was 60-95°. The wind was negligible.
My daughter is that way so I gave her 400 acres, a 3 bed room all brick house, a 4x4 John Deere tractor, a 4x4 Chevy 2500, a 4x4 Kawasaki side by side, and a John Deere riding lawn mower . Now I am a guest not a laborer.
