  1. Winter is the only time I can get them in the James. Last week I caught the first ones that I have seen in 10 months. They were on my old standby Zeros.
  2. I have caught crappie on the bluff just below Cedar Creek in the timber. It’s been years since I’ve been down there. There is a point marker between Cedar and Snap Hollow, I think it is Pt. 39 but I’m not sure. We used to catch walleye and crappie there while fishing for whites. Opposite that is a flat at the end of it down to the boat dock (if it’s still there) we also caught crappie. I always launched at Beaver Creek instead of K Dock.
  3. Tucker to Lead Hill would be my pick over K Dock.
  4. Is there a trolling motor on that boat? Crabtree is not a place to go with that much South wind. The wind will have a non impeded 10 mile run to get those rollers going. 6 footers may be possible at that end.
  5. You might want to look at your map. There is almost nothing east to west at Rouark. Son’s is sw to ne and Sac is se to nw.
  6. So I am down to 900 hooks. Who’s next?
  7. The suggested size is 4/0 to 6/0 but the 5/0 fits every size.
  8. For a few years I had local high school fishing kids come over and learn to make baits. The youngest of them is now in college and my school contact has left. So I find myself with a surplus of some items. One of them is 1000 5/0 90° jig hooks. I have 3 molds which take that hook, tube insert, swimbait and football. The baits will be unpainted hard lead without weed guards or keepers. If any of you want some of the baits that can be poured from them, I will pour them in your size and quantity and ship them to you USPS FLAT RATE. The baits will cost you $.25 each with a minimum order of 25 and for that amount the Flat Rate is about $9.00. Let me know if you are interested.
  9. The name may have changed but when I had Lowrance it was called a Total Scan transducer. It showed 2d, down, and side scan. I had mine on a Transducer Shield and saver mount.
  10. I can’t really tell from the image. It is just to the East of the campers ramp. Sometimes it is an island and sometimes it is a peninsula depending on the water level. With the lake down it is probably a peninsula now.
  11. I get the Garmin Striker add every time even though I haven’t googled it as I am a Hbird guy.
  12. Wow nice. I haven’t seen that much stuff on a screen in years.
  13. The weather that I heard ( National Weather Service Springfield MO 417-869-4491) said gusts to 30 mph. The dam area is the last place I would go with that wind. Look at your maps. If I were going I’d be looking for something in the Little Sac arm like State Park or Cedar Ridge where the wind doesn’t have several miles of open water to get those rollers going. If you go that way the points at Maze Creek can be good as well as the little island right by the Cedar Ridge Campers ramp. Where ever you go be safe and good luck.
  14. Those are some good brown fish. They are a lot better than what I have found in the James. Congrats.
  15. Good to see you back on the forums. I was afraid that you were gone for good.
  16. When I walleye fish in the winter I use 1/2 oz jigging spoons. Normally I fish around main lake points. Most of my fishing is in 30-50 feet of water. I have caught them in Hartley Branch, Orleans Trail, and Hawker Branch using buck tail jigs. You may want to check the weather forecast before you decide on a launch site because Friday is supposed to be windy and Stockton can get a bit choppy.
  17. It looks like a really big mud puppy to me. I’m sure the guy who knows everything will be along in a while to give you the low down.
  18. That was probably your momma telling you to wash your butt and you weren’t paying attention.
  19. I that on regular sonar or live scope? Btw: I just noticed what forum I put this in. Sorry
  20. I haven’t been to Stockton in about a month. Cape is a lot closer than Stockton and I can pick up my son in law on the way. Stockton tends to kick my butt in the winter. I’m hoping Mega Live will change that. I plan to return tomorrow if today’s wood splitting doesn’t do a number on my back.
  21. Oneshot I forgot to mention that I don’t wash my truck. I have it washed.
  22. I agree. Of all the Chevys I have owned I can’t remember any going in for more than general maintenance. I’ve never owned a Dodge but have had 3 Fords one of which spent as much time in the dealership as it did at my house the first year. The good part of that was I got a free truck to drive those days. I have a 2001 Chevy small v8 that is driven by all of the family an was driven by hired hands when we had them. Brakes and an air conditioning compressor is all the extras it has had.
  23. So I guess I got lucky. I’d buy it again tomorrow if I needed a new truck.
  24. I have a Chevy that is quite similar to the GMC Sierra. It is a 2020 Silverado Z21 LTZ. I did a lot of research after selling my 5th wheeler because I was going to continue pulling my glitter sled. I’ve never had a high speed rear end and didn’t know about that or a 5 liter engine. I finally talked to a couple of service techs whom I trust. Both told me that it would do fine even though my rig is approaching 5000 lbs. It has plenty of power to top these Ozark hills to and from the lake. Mileage wise I get over 20 mpg on the highway, sometimes as much as 24. Pulling my boat it fluctuates from 13 to 14 mpg depending on which lake.
  25. Never have but rarely on a dirt road.
