Coldspring Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Haven't we voted against all incumbents for the last several elections? Not much will change.
LarrySTL Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I looked at the USGS stuff this afternoon on two different rivers. Yes I saw the disclaimer, but the info I wanted was still there and said it was updated to 4 pm today. The disclaimer was something about lack of hands-on maintaince could make the gauges inaccurate after heavy rains or something. http://intervenehere.com
fishinwrench Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Good point, guess that means we probably won't be voting. That's the solution right there IMO. When masses stop showing up to "vote" it gets their attention. Only THEN do they realize that folks are not playing the game anymore. Voter turnout in my area was way down last time and the constant encouragement to PLEASE GO VOTE through local media was annoying. Yeah Yeah, "go vote". Whatever. KMA! Anywho, I just turned the weather radio on....it's running.
Smalliebigs Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 agreed Mitch.....the shut down doesn't mean a darn thing to me.....life goes on. Let the federal workers suffer like the rest of the other sectors of the country have for the last little while. They can shut this crap down for a long time as far as I'm concerned. True enough, they're a bunch of morons. But it's not that big a deal to me, I haven't skipped a beat and will go on like nothing happened. So what if the nanny state shuts down for a few days?
DaddyO Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 The ObamCare websites were up and running..... DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Feathers and Fins Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I will tell you who is getting the blame, I have been reading the Facebook pages for the Politicians and the most comments are this. 1. If Obamacare is so good for all of us then remove exemptions for CONGRESS, BIG BUSINESS AND GOVERMENT EMPLOYEES'S you make the law it is the law for everyone. that's on democrats, republicans and tea party politicians facebooks. I do believe that with the internet this time around the ones who will be blamed for this if it goes on will be Democrats which shocked me but also reading the post people were extremely angered at the name calling the dems were doing. If its a short term shut down republicans will get the blame but a long term the dems will get it as now finally more and more Mainstream Media are actually reporting on all the exemptions to government and business being handed out and yet the average Joe has to abide by this mess. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
cnr Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Vote out every incumbent AND only vote for people who pledge to take no money or favors from any lobbyist. Amen to that! It seems like it should be so simple: 1) Representatives that represent their constituents (not special interest groups). 2) They should live by the same laws and policies they enact. Government shutdown to prove their points...Great, then they don't get paid either. It sure is easy to be pig-headed when it's no skin off your back.
Quillback Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 The ObamCare websites were up and running..... But they don't work, up and not running would be a better description.
skeeter Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Vote out every incumbent AND only vote for people who pledge to take no money or favors from any lobbyist. Under our current system, there is no way for a challenger to defeat an incumbent without first prostituting themselves to special interest groups to raise campaign funds. That is precisely why we need the 28th Amendment installing retroactive Congressional term limits and also retroactively abolishing the obscene Congressional Pension. Get the "Lifers" out of Congress ! When you have term limits, imposed by Congress, on the Presidency vs. Congressmen who can be re-elected until death, the so-called "balance" between the Legislative and Executive branches the Founding Fathers intended no longer exists !
