I have no idea myself about bands. Do these bands cause problems and attract the wrong kind of people. ????? The last band i heard was Lawrence Welk I think. Matter of fact i have not heard a thing in about 50 yrs and after looking at that list of bands I can only wonder if maybe I am not missing anything.

If it's too loud, you're too old. I used to say that a lot :-)

Dang dude, I thought I was a dinosaur! Get out and do a jig once in awhile. It's good for the heart!

I can't dance like I used to.

Camp Zoe is a neat property. It used to be a kids summer camp before Jimmy Tebeau of the Schwag (Grateful Dead cover band) bought it to host music festivals. The Feds confiscated the property a couple years ago and I think Tebeau is still in jail. I don't like the way that the property was obtained...but it would make a nice State Park. Probably the best we could hope for out of bad situation.

It looks like the DNR owns it. The MDC and the DNR are two different entities. I believe DNR is in charge of state parks

Bfoshin-----I have gone dancing with my wife now and then at our Elks Lodge. I have also been to dance in a room filled with people that could not hear any of it. I think the first time I danced with my wife up at the lodge half the room sat there open mouthed.

I saw Buckwheat Zydeco there as well as a few other shows and it was a cool place if you ask me.......but I'm sure most of you think I am some sort of kook anyway. I agree with Wrench the way it was obtained SUCKS.......I hope a Cougar jumps somone down there.

Since the story didn't tell me how the State had acquired it I had to do a little research. Basically the owner was arrested on drug charges an forfeited the property to the Federal Government , the Feds having no use for such property offered it for sale, as per protocol other federal agencies get first chance, then the state, county, municipalities then the general public. So the property being close to another state park and other state owned properties the MDNR opted to buy it for $640,000 or just over $2100 per acre so they didn't just take it for free. With the other nearby State Park and other land and its history I bet it gets pretty well patrolled. State Park Rangers have full LE Authority and are certified Peace Officers. While some of the specific authorities are different from the MDC Agents the State Park Rangers are certainly capable. Hopefully the MDNR will take care of the area and make it into another wonderful State Park. Time will tell.

The feds confiscated it. MODNR bought it from them. Can't blame MODNR, unless you believe they've been colluding with the feds all along and just waiting for the feds to get the chance to take the property. I'm happy it's in public ownership, no matter how it happened.

If there was a big drug problem there that may the reason for the change. I am not real sure of this but i did not think that state park rangers had the the same authority as officiers of the law as a conservation agent does. Is that true.

No, it is not. Park Rangers can write a ticket or arrest you for just about anything from murder on down to using the wrong minnow. And yes those bands attract the wrong kind of people. Like me.
