ColdWaterFshr Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Had some fun making these. I think Gavin had given me the idea a few years ago in a fly-swap by taking empty Altoids tins and gluing craft foam in them to make a nice little fly box. So I've been saving them up over the months and with Xmas approaching, I got busier than an elf. I took it a step further and put a paint job on 'em, found a stencil at Hobby Lobby and had some fun. Emptied my old flyboxes of stuff I tied and filled these up to give out as gifts for some relatives. Let me know what you think. Paul Dallas Phil Lilley, Greasy B and ness 3
snagged in outlet 3 Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 That's really cool. I like the dragon fly. Pete
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 AWESOME! !! Sorry if that came out like a little girl. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. ColdWaterFshr Posted December 19, 2014 Author Posted December 19, 2014 Very nice, Are the ones to the right painted with the textured granite spray? BilletHead Yeah, not crazy about the way those turned out. I like the antique oil-rubbed bronze finish better.
BilletHead Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Hey I like them all. Gets my mind thinking too. A rattle can of bedliner stuff might make them grip a pocket. fishinwrench Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Those are purty. I use a couple with magnet strips glued in them. Doing that instead of foam makes a little more room for fatter flys. Doesn't look as neat and tidy though. Got any clever ideas for making compartments in them ? BH, I like the bedliner idea !

Strips of card board. cut slits and you can fit them together to make compartments.

Al Agnew Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Yeah, the cardboard wouldn't last long once it got wet once. But there's a lot of plastic in the world. Maybe find a piece of plastic like coffee can lids are made of, and cut the strips with slits out of it.
