dtrs5kprs Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 And patronizing spongers at that. Indeed. Assuming of course you don't mean that other patronizing.
Terrierman Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 100% agreement on weedguard. Good video. You've seen the little ball head jig I've been using. Really landed there largely due to a weedguard that I could trim so it would give good hookups and still be hang up resistant. And price. Those $3.00 each Gamakatsu finesse jigheads wore me out. And again, thanks for everything.
LittleRedFisherman Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Very imformative video Dave, thanks. There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
moguy1973 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Did you modify existing molds to make your heads or did you have a blank mold cut by a machine shop to your specifications? -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
dtrs5kprs Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 Did you modify existing molds to make your heads or did you have a blank mold cut by a machine shop to your specifications? Tweaked one up. Tried to get a CNC shop to do it, including one who advertises that he cuts custom molds. No one wanted the money apparently. I'm not too proud to do a lot of things for $500-$1000. Must be a different standard in that industry. Working with a company on big molds for spin casting.
crazy4fishin Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Great vid Dave - I have also tried many different heads based on what was in the boat and you are right...many look the same but react differently and that will result in either catching fish or not...their brains may be tiny but they aren't stupid... also if the other shop doesn't work out let me know - I have a tool room full of guys that would love to put something like this on a mill and run with it. Travis Swift Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Dave I have poured some with the Gammy's and I like them but hate the price. So I started pouring with a Matzou Sickle Hook. I love the price and they are sharp but they tend to break when hung up. I haven't had one break on a fish yet but I have a bunch on rocks and trees. Today I bought some Mustad 32833BLN . The price is good on them and they seem strong. I use a #2 in all my hooks. I don't sell mine, just use them for fun. Can you tell me about the Mustad? I'm sure you've tried it. Do you like it and do you like the #2 size or are you using a #4?
