Gavin Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Pizza and egg drop soup looks good. Contemplating a smoker run this weekend. All they on sale vac packed stuff from last fall. A couple pork shoulders, bunch of ribs, brisket, some whole chickens. Has anyone ever played around with honey powder in a rub or as a finish? Talked to a fellow who is a KCBS BBQ judge last weekend who recommended. Think he used as a finish, but don't remember other than its granular so it sticks and does not run off. ness 1
ness Posted May 17, 2016 Author Posted May 17, 2016 Had to look that up. Never heard of honey powder. John
Johnsfolly Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 I have just begun to hear about honey powder, but have never used it. I would think that it would be a better finish than in a rub, since I believe that it's likely to easily burn. Love to hear more about it though. ness 1

Never heard of it but it sounds interesting. Might have to try it but I've never had a problem just using honey. Yes there is going to be some runoff but that happens with all rubs. It stays on better than you think.
