Nancy was tied up at school today so I prepared something I knew she would like. Allow me to walk you through this.

I guess you could call this a family style plated dinner salad.

What you see is finely sliced romaine, surrounded by cucumber, radish, tomato leaves, Kalamata olives, baby Yukon potatoes, and hard boiled egg. On top you see Lorraine cheese rolls, roasted chicken breast, pastrami, and Black Forrest Ham with blanched and chilled asparagus.

I made a homemade dressing using the Penzys Green Goddess blend.

The only difficulty? Do you dress before or after you pick out what you want?

That dish was prepared for a picture, not a hungry woman.

Looks like it could use some salt and pepper and some chives or Italian parsley.

Lets walk through this. A tired and hungry woman doesn't want to come home to an overprepared salad no matter how fussily its arranged.

Then you have to deal with leftovers and her unspoken dissatisfaction.

JoeD -- it's just not funny. Go to bed. Make a to-do list when you get up and do something positive. It's just getting old.

This was Ness and I back in the day, enjoying Gourmet offerings. Ness's date was known as "Easy Rider".

I love White Castle. Wish we still had them here. The frozen ones in the grocery store are just as good though, so I guess I can't complain.

Can't say that I agree with loving the White Castles. We didn't call them sliders without a reason ;). However, we did only frequent WC after a beer binge night. So maybe the day aftermath shouldn't be attributed only to their burgers.

Well our annual dove opener blast and eat is over. Sorry no pics of the lunch feast.  Bacon wrapped dove breasts with a slice of jalapeño in the middle, grilled fast and hot, cream cheese stuffed mushroons, large jalapenos split and seeded, cream cheese & brown sugar then wrapped in bacon, potatoes salad, and baked beans.  We nearly ate ourselves into a stupor.  Afternoon dove hunt nearby, but since I had already limited out this morningI stayed to bait and run crawdad traps (with dove the carcasses for bait).   And may have had a nap or two.  Our traditional supper is a ctawfish boil, with taters, corn, andouille sausage chunks, and a bag of frog legs.  Absolutely gorgeous day, lots of shooting, way too much food, good friends, and my 18 yr old college boy son (all 2 weeks of his college career). Since my wife and oncologist prohibited me from going last year this was even more special.
