I'm curious why anyone would/could prefer a chicken thigh for anything. If I was chopping up chickens I'd throw those thighs to the dog. Legs, wings, and breast are the only parts of a chicken that I find tasty and worth messing with.
slothman Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 The thigh, when grilled or baked, is my favorite part. Followed by the wings and legs, then the breast. Johnsfolly and ness 2
ness Posted July 28, 2018 Author Posted July 28, 2018 Thighs have great flavor. They’re a bit of work to get the meat off of sometimes, but they’re good eating. Like legs too. White meat can be dry and flavorless. Not tonight though...beer can chicken and it was all moist and juicy. Thyme, rosemary and paprika on the outside; Budweiser on the inside. Peas and new potatoes in a white sauce (I’m told it’s an Iowa thing😄), peaches and cream corn, maters and cottage cheese. Johnsfolly 1 John

Breasts and drumsticks are the last things eaten at my house unless I cut the breasts up into tenders and grill them. To my tastes thighs have the best flavor of the chicken followed by the wings, of course I am cheap too. fishinwrench and Johnsfolly 2
rps Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Gluten free, no trans fat, no MSG tonight. Marinated and roasted wild caught sockeye salmon with pan seared green beans. The salad has the remains of last night's antipasto platter except for the dolma. I ate them separately.

I agree with the others that the thighs have the best flavor. Love wings as well, but they don't lend themselves to making a variety of meals like the thighs do. To me the breast can be dry and needs coaxing with marinades or spices to get good flavor into the meat. slothman 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 I made 6 thighs last night. Cupcake thighs. Thigh, butter, bourbon and grated ginger in the cup with the thigh. Smoked 3 hours and they were fabulous. Shoulda doubled down and made 12. Chicken breast's are tasteless and easy to overcook. I love wangs though!! ness 1

Would have brined for the beer can chicken but didn’t have time. I like wings that other people have cooked. I won’t mess with them. John
snagged in outlet 3 Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 I like the packs of drummies. Smoked, grilled, fried whatever. Flysmallie 1
snagged in outlet 3 Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 I've been making this recipe for a couple years now and my family loves it. White meat still moist and the dark meat done. We pour the drunk onions over the chicken and rip it apart. https://abc.go.com/shows/the-chew/recipes/brick-chicken-with-mustard-hot-sauce-and-drunken-onions-michael-symon ness and Johnsfolly 2
