Terrierman Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Two grandsons are ate up with it. Youngest brother isn't. Two others aren't to the age yet but I will try my best to give them the bug too.
Lancer09 Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 24. Most of the people I fish with are under 30 as well.
Flysmallie Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Most of the people I fish with are under 30 as well. That used to happen to me. I still see a lot of young guys and gals out there giving it a shot. Â Â
5bites Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Seems I hardly ever see someone fishing who looks under 35 years old. If you don't fish tournaments go to a weigh in and look around. Your perception might change some then.
rainbow Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 All of my 8 grandkids fish, they are all 16 or under and half are girls. My 8 y.o. granddaughter loves to fish and she is good at it.
fishinwrench Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 You don't see the youngsters because they are doing 70 mph and wearing buffs. But they are out there. Pat Magee, bs1827 and dtrs5kprs 3
ollie Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 Around here I see them just as young fishing. Maybe Geographic's plays a hand in this as well? Although I do see a lot of kids who would rather stay inside and play video games as well. Kayser Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 25 here, but having trouble finding experienced people to fish with in Rolla. Seems to only be a handful of them around, and almost nobody fly fishes, it seems. WARNING!! Comments to be interpreted at own risk. Time spent fishing is never wasted.
Jason R. Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 I sort of agree with you though. I had to recruit fishing buddies while I was in college. Now that I am back in central AR- I don't really have any fishing buddies other than my dad. The few guys I know that fish and live around here are in Med School and don't have any spare time. Now my younger brother, who is 26- none of his friends fish. They are all into computer games- though I think a few of them hunt during duck season. I don't think you can blame their (my) generation- I think the fact is that their dads didn't take them outdoors very often and computer games just seem easier, cheaper and more instantly gratifying. http://flyinthesouth.com/
trythisonemv Posted April 6, 2015 Posted April 6, 2015 They have added fishing programs to several high schools in the area. They have competitions and everything. Hopefully it takes off.
