dtrs5kprs Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Had the true pleasure of spending the day fishing with fellow OAF member Terrierman today. A good fisherman, and just plain fun to fish with. Numbers are still off, but we caught quite a few. Best estimate would be in the 40 neighborhood. Striking thing is that close to half would have kept, with a good number of them in the 16"-17" range. Rick had one very nice spot right at 17". More or less the same bite. Mixed rock and gravel, either 6'-10' or 15'-20' or so. If you can find those banks that have a little ditch, high spot, boulders, or a little brush/wood, so much the better. Did catch a few on some deeper, big rock, but not like Tuesday. Temps rebounded, ending in the low 60's. There are lots of K's on beds around Kimberling, and fish staging on dock corners, chasing and nipping. All but one fish came on the Ned. Mix of head weights based on depth. Mix of colors. We did experiment with some KVD scent sticks, and can honestly say they seemed to work. Elaztech does not scent well, we rubbed it on the baits and the heads. This an amazing resource, with some excellent and genuine members. If you get the chance to fish with another OAF'er, make the most of it. grizwilson, Sac River Jim, OldMillRoad and 3 others 6

Quillback Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Good deal, good to see you got the Terrierman into them.
Bill Babler Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Dave, those scent sticks are the bomb for the float and fly. We reduce the amount of material in the fly and then make it full heavy so it does not even wave a bit, using the stinky material from the scent stick. It works. Saw on a video, that you wanted the tail solid from the stick and it works way better than a moving body. Hard to figure. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Terrierman Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Thanks for a great day on the water Dave. You are as detailed and well thought out in your approach to fishing, and as good at it as anyone I've ever had the pleasure to meet and fish with. Had a lot of fun. Have to mention one of those classic Ned bites. Answered the phone and in the middle of the conservation..... well you know the rest of the story. Good call on the Canada craw Ham. That and PBJ were all we used. I also want to echo what Dave said about this site being a great resource. For information and also for meeting some real quality people. Every single person I've met through here has been 100%, and I've gotten to learn a lot from fishing with them. And had a lot of fun along the way. Thanks Phil for doing what you do here. Edit for Chief Gray Bear: Note the caring support I personally give fish whilst they are being photographed. That's just me, always about my little finny friends. Ham, Champ188 and grizwilson 3
fishingaddiction Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Nice catch to keeper ratio, good to hear those kind of numbers. Glad you two had a great day. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Ham Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Dave loves PB&J like Fat kids love doughnuts. I struggle with it, but I will throw PBJ when its cloudy. I hate the Coppertreuse color, but the spots in the stained water clearly preferred it Wednesday. I'm more likely to throw Dirt or GP or CC. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future.
