I use Stren clear blue braid on my baitcasters and NanoFil on my spinning reels 100% of the time. Tieing a leader on has become second nature to me. I use Yo-Zuri Pink 100% fluorocarbon leader line across the board on all of my spinning and bait casters. I have found that leader line is better to use instead of just regular spools of line. I just compensate for the lack of stretch with the drag settings on the reel and of course you need to use a good quality reel with good drag settings. I don't have to do a 180 deg monster rotating hook set like the Fluorocarbon and Mono line users do. You'll be surprised how much stretch there is in 50 Ft of Fluorocarbon or Mono line as compared to braid and/or NanoFil line. Brand & type of line usage is a personal preference and whatever works for you. I've tried them all looking for what works for me.... :have-a-nice-day:

I'm with the personal preference side, but when it is about 3:1 in favor of numbers on separate trips it sort of sticks out.Don fished fluoro behind me last year and more than kept up on size and numbers. Then he bought some bad fluoro (abrazx) and switched. Difference was obvious. Did not mean to dredge up braid vs fluoro.

Lots and lots of these...

Both of those measured just left of 18". Many more in the 16-17" range. Realized we did not take any stills of the spots or blacks. Green fish are all on video.

Yes, but rarely on. Better to message him through YouTube.

In order to message thru YT you have to agree to their terms. Have you read that crap? I'll just have to pass.

Don is Huntington Parker here on OAF. Will let him know he should check for a pm. He is pretty full up with YouTube messages, so does not come on here often.

Nice brown ones. I get it now on the braid vs fluoro.

It does not make sense, but I think for some folks the braid enhances the sensitivity too much, in the same way a rod that is too crisp is a hindrance. That may be why the maxima works so well for Bill.

A lot of things about the little rig make no sense in terms of conventional wisdom.

I keep 2 rods rigged with hybrid & 2 rods rigged with braid/hybrid

If I break off both leaders, I will pick up the 3rd rod & continue fishing.

When the bite slows down, I take the time to retie leaders on both rods.

I like the sensitivity & added strength of the braid. It hepls with the no feel approach.

Don wasn't breaking them off, just can't run braid and an 8# leader behind six pound Invizx and keep up. Have never done it, or seen it done yet.

The key word there is YET.
