mjk86 Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Which is like the rental car thing. You don't care how you treat it because you don't view it as yours. Whatever. this is going nowhere, your right.
vonreed Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 There was a line in a movie called Centennial. It has a line in it that I live by sometimes. "You can't reason with a maniac, you have to overcome him" This is what I think of everytime I see a post of these bass lovers thinking the bass are holy and deserve special treatment over every other fish in the lake. It's kinda like the people overseas who worship cows for whatever reason. It's beyond their comprehention because they're obsessed with it. If a person was to go try to catch a fish in Tablerock. Perch would be the fastest and Bass would be next to catch. They're defintely not endangered or even close. mjk86, rangerman and Crappie_Fisherman 3

abkeenan Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 I respect both bodies of water the same actually. Practice reading my post a bit more, I thought it was plain english, but ill restate that If I fished table rock as much as I fish at home id take a few and put a few back. Trust me I understand the harm that can be done to a fishery...but there are lots of fisheries that are treated WAYYYY worse that table rock yet still pump out good numbers of good fish. Fishing guides and locals on the lake and probably even you have killed more bass by accident than I have on purpose. There's no way that is true. I've probably killed less than a limit of fish by accident in the last 5 years much less 30 per year. I killed about a 3lb beauty smallie last year on a jika rig that wasn't gut hooked or anything and it made me sick. Kept him in the livewell trying to revive him but it was too no avail. Not sure what happened but I hated to see it. I am not going to bash on people that keep limits of fish that is within reason. Like I've said before it's well within the regulations and laws set forth by the state of Missouri/Arkansas. But I guess I just don't follow the logic of spending a lot of money on gas, rods/reels, tackle, boats, etc to travel to a lake to fill a cooler/freezer. You could save a ton of money going to the local grocery store and buying tons of fillets for much less if the meat is all you're after in the end. Isn't the point of traveling to a lake like Table Rock for the experience of feeling a fish tugging on your line and taking in all the sights, sounds, smells and overall aesthetics that the lake presents? Wouldn't you want to protect that and make it sustainable for future generations to enjoy? Taking a 15" fish out of the lake means it has 0 opportunity to give someone else the pleasure of saying "get the net" to a family or friend and bringing a smile to your/their face. It also means that fish has no chance to become a true trophy fish and you are basically starting from square one with another smaller fish to fill its place that will take years to get it back to that length/size. If you are fishing out of necessity to eat that is one thing but I highly doubt most people here with their 100 Mbps internet speed access to Ozark Anglers or using their 4G LTE Smartphone have those types of 3rd world problems. dtrs5kprs, Alex Heitman, Quillback and 1 other 4

5bites Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 About 20 years ago, the COE pulled Lake Ouachita down about 10 feet below conservation pool and mostly held it there for 5 years. The result was a world of new shallow-cover growth, which led to a rebound of crappie and largemouth bass populations. While Ouachita is also a flood control reservoir, it might be that this would be impossible with Table Rock because of location, weather patterns, etc. But new cover is never, ever a bad thing. I wish they'd do this to stockton badly. After they left the lake way to high for a couple year it killed 95% of the willows. If they'd do this with grand that lake would be scary how good it could be. Ham 1
Old plug Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 a. lot of these people on this thread think nothing of sight fishing bass. Then jump on someone for keeping them to eat. I got to wonder do you know what happens most of the time when you pull that bass out of that bed ? The blue gill and sunfish race in there and make short work of the eggs if they are present at that time same. applies to the fry. I know the bass goes back but at times that is before the bed has been spawned. Fly_Guy 1
rangerman Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Thanks. Might as well give up brotha', You can't argue with close minded person(s). Remember all hail the bass...and if nothing else is biting you can always catch them. Walleyedmike and james 2
Chief Grey Bear Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 I really don't know much about this (warm water fishery biology) but I would think Table Rock is less inductive for crappie compared to Stockton and other lakes (like Oklahoma lakes) because of Table Rock's water clarity. TR will never be as good a crappie fishery as these other lakes because of it's clear water? It used to be as good as Stockton. And better for bigger crappie. dtrs5kprs 1 Chief Grey Bear Living is dangerous to your health Owner Ozark Fishing Expeditions Co-Owner, Chief Executive Product Development Team Jerm Werm Executive Pro Staff Team Agnew Executive Pro Staff Paul Dallas Productions Executive Pro Staff Team Heddon, River Division Chief Primary Consultant Missouri Smallmouth Alliance Executive Vice President Ronnie Moore Outdoors
