Quillback Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 I have 3 stradics with binding problems. What to do ..... Has to be some reel repair places that can fix them. Seems a shame to toss them, outside of the binding issue, they are a great reel.
Gavin Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 A reel that binds is usesless, not great. Overpriced disposable junk unfortunately.
Al Agnew Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Has to be some reel repair places that can fix them. Seems a shame to toss them, outside of the binding issue, they are a great reel. Once one begins to bind, it will keep binding. Supposedly changing out one particular bushing will fix the problem, but reports are that doesn't always work, either. It's worth a try, I suppose, if you already own one (or three), but if Shimano can't come up with a permanent fix (or even acknowledge the problem), it surely isn't smart to buy a new one.
rps Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 I have learned to build rods where you can use a real reel - a bait casting reel - all the way down to 1/8 ounce. If I ever go back to crappie fishing, I might try to use the Stradic I kept from the old days.

It's doable if you try hard enough. Terrierman and rps 2 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
trythisonemv Posted June 22, 2015 Posted June 22, 2015 I've got a ten year old daiwa not sure model but it has out lasted three rods and two other reels. I grease it once a year and I drop it once a trip. I also have a bass pro micro spin that's been great. Its about 7 years old and still good. I'd stay away from Shakespeare though. I have issues with the line guide wearing a fine track. If you hook a big fish it breaks the line. It's happened several time a since I am cheap and go to Wal-Mart to much.

MOPanfisher Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 The toughest ones I ever owned were a couple of Diawa Black Golds
