Seems like it's worse this year. I think all the rain kept them inside. Now that it's nice they are making up for lost time. Beaver was a nightmare last Saturday. Any boat with size couldn't go under the 12 bridge so Prairie to Rocky Branch was nuts.

I had to work on this one. What you see is an old cemetery actually on Holiday Island. Early in the summer mornings, the buzzards congregate there on the fence and on the stones. I've always wondered what they thought.

Really cool - tomorrow is my last day of work - retiring and moving to the lake house I built about 7 years ago outside of Branson West. I've never been down this way.

Two questions:

1) Is there a public ramp at Beaver town?

2) Is the White Rivers Border Lakes permit (bought in Mo) good in Arkansas up to the Beaver darn?

3) How about the Mo. trout stamp?

Thanks

Bobby

Bobby,

Lifetime Permits for Fishing or Hunting, or combined are available. Lifetime Fishing permits include Trout Stamp. This does not include Border Lakes Permit though. Price is based upon your age. Here's a link.

The WR Border permit does not cover the area between the Beaver dam and Houseman, you'll need a non-res AR license and AR trout stamp for trout retention in that stretch of water.

A White River Border Lakes License (WRL) is available for a $10 annual fee. This license allows holders of a valid resident license from either state to fish all waters of Bull Shoals, Norfork and Table Rock lakes without a fishing license from the other state. The permit is valid for impounded waters (the waters between Beaver Lake Dam and Houseman Access in Arkansas are excluded). Trout may not be taken with this license. Anglers younger than 16 do not need to buy this license to fish in Missouri waters. Anglers are required to abide by the fishing regulations of the state where they are fishing. The only differences in regulations are:

  • On Table Rock Lake, spotted bass must be at least 12 inches long to keep (Arkansas) or at least 15 inches long to keep (Missouri).

There is a public ramp at Beaver, but there is a Corps of Engineers fee and right now, the water is too high to use it. Launch at Holiday Island instead. No fee and useable even at this lake level. Plenty of parking as well.

The others covered the Border Lakes license information well.

Bobby b, congratulations on your retirement. I envy you. The wife and I have been vacationing on the rock for 33 years. We are coming down for two weeks on the 19th. We are planning on buying a house and retiring down there. I can't wait! I have about 2 1/2 years to go. ( yes, I am counting the days]. Maybe I will try to take in some of those sites this year.

post-861-0-09814600-1438807443.jpgAs I indicated above I am just retired and not being familiar with this part of the lake I drove up that way today. The truck in the attached pic (driven by a 30 something young lady) was in a 30 minute standoff with another vehicle (driven by an elderly lady). Neither would backup. The elderly lady said she lived there so she did not have to yield. Eventually the younger lady backed up and rather than going forward across the bridge in the direction of her travel, she sped after the elderly lady. As she passed I was close enough to make eye contact. Hope we don't read about an elderly lady getting beat up. Remember us old folks screw up some times.

RPS - Thanks for the answers to my questions above and Yes Beaver campground is mostly flooded.

One more question - Can you get a boat under or around that railroad bridge?
