David Unnerstall Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 I think I would still be running...right tired...but still running.
Ham Posted July 8, 2015 Posted July 8, 2015 The first (and only) rattlesnake in the wild I have ever seen was a nice sized Pygmy Ratllesnake that came crawling thru while I was on the bluff lot. I kept working and he kept crawling. I had not seen him before or since. I appreciate you more and more Rick. Terrierman 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. jdmidwest Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I think I would have packed him off a little farther than the fence line. There was some reason he was crawling around your property, probably mice. No need to risk a nasty bite if you don't see him next time. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
Terrierman Posted July 9, 2015 Author Posted July 9, 2015 Did he go peacefully on the shovel, or did you have something to contain him with during the relocation? More or less peacefully. He crawled off once but a little persuasion with a piece of plastic pipe and he crawled right back on.

fishinwrench Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 How far would have been far enough? Wherever the mother in-law parks her car. jtram, Phil Lilley, Terrierman and 1 other 4
Harps Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Good stuff that you didn't kill it IMO. I have yet to see a Rattler in the wild, copperheads and cottonmouths are another story however.
jdmidwest Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 How far would have been far enough? At least a county just to be safe! Several miles would have been enough, in the boonies, not in town. Had an employee come in on Monday telling a story about a couple of his friends hooking up an old car in a field this weekend. One stuck his hand under to attach a chain and thought he was struck by a bolt of electricity. He thought there was a live wire attached to the frame. He started looking and found a nice little 4' timber rattler and realized he had been bitten. Looks like he will be alright.
