Terrierman Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Who got nasty, mean, or truly bent out of shape? Aggressor was the only one I've seen get all torqued, and he started it with himself (cybil) right after he found Jesus, so that was probably just some "speaking in tongue" kinda thing. No harm done or hurt feelings that I've noticed. I could get you a list of mean things that have been and continue to be said but there's really no point.

Flysmallie Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 It's not a problem of differing opinions, it goes way deeper than that. People have always had differing opinions. But what they haven't always had is the need to be told they are right. Take a look at society and you will see the problem is everywhere. It's not a problem on Ozark Anglers, it's a problem with America. And until we get some leadership that doesn't act the same way then it will continue to spiral down this path. But it's my opinion that this leadership is not coming. Ever. J-Doc, Mitch f and jtram 3
Daryk Campbell Sr Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 I would like to acknowledge this thread, and put in my 2cents. The forum is primarily for giving/receiving information about fishing. Opinions have been strong, and so have words. Ketchup mentioned it is hard to read emotion in text. (paraphrasing). I know eventually the best fruit becomes sour, and at one time OAF was a very ripe fruit and many people participated in the give and take of fishing knowledge, expertise etc. Lately it has become a hangout for a handful of people who compare themselves in a virtual form. There are still many great qualities in the forums, but in the America we live in, negative sells, and that is what is cool in our culture and has worked its way here. I enjoy some of the ribbing, jabbing and such. It is great entertainment. I feel as if I know many of you, but really just know your screen names. If I was a guy who found the forum recently instead of a few years ago, I would not hang around. Just my 2, well 3 cents. Money is just ink and paper, worthless until it switches hands, and worthless again until the next transaction. (me) I am the master of my unspoken words, and the slave to those that should have remained unsaid. (unknown)
fishinwrench Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Alright, here's the deal as I see it... If there wasn't something always going on around here at least half or more of the daily check-ins would go away. The reason that questions get promptly answered and the reason guys think to post trip reports is because they log in here fairly often. And the reason why they log in often, even when they aren't about to go (or just got back from) fishing, is because someone almost always has some kind of drama stirred up here....and sick as it may seem, that is entertaining. Message boards that completely discourage personality are boring as hell. I only get on the Chevy trucks forum when there is something wrong with my truck. I only get on the E-team board when I need to learn something about a motor issue I'm confused about. I only get on Riversmallies when....wait, I NEVER get on Riversmallies anymore. I'm on here multiple times every dang day regardless of what kind of mood I'm in simply because even when there is nothing I want to know or feel the need to share, it is always good for a smile... or some other kind of emotion that makes it worthwhile. joeD Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Well, the way I see it....never mind. (I wonder if he is talking about me?) We're on his forum because we like it. Simple as that. If we didn't like it, we wouldn't be on it. 1+1=2. That's it. Nothing more. Except..

You want to be always up to date on the latest new crankbait color schemes and/or fresh new offering in soft plastic? Naw, I'm guessing not.
Ketchup Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Ol' wrench couldnt have said it better. Any forum owner/mod knows these things, which is why most good places allows people to speak freely, to a degree. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.
joeD Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Keep going, you're getting warm. (Do I have to justify my existence on this forum?)
