joeD Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Wrench- You are being difficult and a little fiesty. (sounds like me actually). You know what I mean.
joeD Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 G********! I thought I had that "persona" covered. Hmmm. Rethinking now. Still, cheap, old lures are cheap old lures for a reason. Sometimes newer IS better, like it or not. Mitch f 1
Gavin Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Al brought up another thing. Sound of the rattle. Three options.silent, high pitch. low pitch. What is the concensus for top water baits?
Mitch f Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Al brought up another thing. Sound of the rattle. Three options.silent, high pitch. low pitch. What is the concensus for top water baits? They now have combinations of high and low. Sometimes silent is best.....but when it's aggressive feeding time, I'll choose the loud low rattles "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Terrierman Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 JoeD is right about this one. Good gear extends to terminal tackle.

Smalliebigs Posted August 5, 2015 Author Posted August 5, 2015 G********! I thought I had that "persona" covered. Hmmm. Rethinking now. Still, cheap, old lures are cheap old lures for a reason. Sometimes newer IS better, like it or not. Hahahaha.......price is never the issue for me for lures, it's all about how they work.....whatever works for me I use. I didn't post pics of the Dawg baits I truly like using and seem to only catch big fish......you guys would think I'm Musky fishing. I was just posting some baits that are working very well for me as it seems some who post here have a hard time catching some nice smallies. I thought they could take the info and move forward???? It aint no biggie. Al is correct though if you choose to come to the dark side and chase the big ones on top be prepared for heartbreak as you will have some large fish knock your bait all around and somehow very skillfully just knock your bait because they just don't like it. I love that show though, it's the best in the Ozarks. I fish the way I do for the show.......and I don't even need a fish clicker ColdWaterFshr 1
cnr Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 I love WTD lures and am guilty of buying quality lures all too frequently. But...I have to think that cadence is as important as anything else with this lure. I definitely get wrapped up in buying a better mouse trap but in the end all the quality WTD lures are pretty similar with the differences being nuances at best. Loud rattle, quiet rattle, hook quality, etc. I think the most important part is the person using it. I am positive if I was fishing with many of you more accomplished anglers and I was rigged identically I would still catch less fish. JoeD outfishes me with a white fluke 99% of the time, he is a master with it. When I see I am being outfitted the first thing I do is stop and watch the subtleties of my fishing partners technique. Yep, I like quality tackle, but I think Confidence, Casting accuracy, and Cadence (presentation speed) make the biggest difference of all. trythisonemv, jtram and Mitch f 3
