Quillback Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Saw this on the AGFC hatchery newsletter. On May 22 -40,092 stocked May 27- 21,105. They were all 1.5" fingerlings. marcus 1
abkeenan Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Good news for RPS. Kind sucks they didn't put some more mature fish in as well. Gonna be awhile before about 12 of those 60,000 fingerlings make it to the 18" benchmark. Lol.

The good news is that Missouri stocks as well and some come through the dam from Beaver which is a fine walleye lake. I never see numbers days on TR like up north, but the size is phenomenal. abkeenan 1
Hunter91 Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Bass were probably biting good on walleye colored crankbaits the week those were released :-) marcus, dtrs5kprs and abkeenan 3
aarchdale@coresleep.com Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I read somewhere may have been on this site that they have to release walleye when they are very small otherwise they eat each other in the holding ponds
mojorig Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Aarchdale@coresleep.com is correct. The reason we stock them at 2 inches is walleye become very cannibalistic around 2 inches in the ponds. On Bull and Norfork, it takes on average 4 years for a walleye to reach 18 inches. I would suspect the walleye in TR grow at a similar rate. abkeenan Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Interesting. Had no idea walleye did that to one another. Learn something everyday. Thanks for filling me in.
motoman Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 Interesting thread for multiple reasons on my end. No clue about the numbers stocked or the cannabilism.:-)
bluebasser86 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Even walleye think walleye taste good! David Unnerstall, 5bites, mjk86 and 3 others 6
mjk86 Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 I wonder just how many will make it to keeper size or bigger? I tried walleye fishing the kimberling area this summer a bit and only got 2 fish. One was 21 or 22 inches the other was only like 15.
