I usually lose 4 or 5 on a 10 hour day, but here's what happens to me. I go fishing with someone who has zero Ned rig gear and I'm not the kind of person that is going to wear the fish out on the Ned rig while they all but zero with conventional gear. I generally set them up with my best rod and reel and provide the jigheads and the zinkers. Naturally, they are going to lose a few jigheads during the day. So, I give a lot of jigheads away. And I keep a creek bag ready at all times AND I have a few jig heads stashed in my boat as an absolute emergency backup. PLUS once he see's how good this deal is, he's gonna want more than the firstlet's say 25 jigheads he orderes. It does become a pay it forward technique. Has for a lot of us anyway. Partly because most guys don't have the components to make it work, partly because most of us are too down home to wear someone out with it and not be hospitable. There might be a couple of guys I'd do that to, but not many . Champ188 and Ham 2

Well, when your sitting in someone else's boat, who happens to be fishing the Ned, your choices are limited. Ham and dtrs5kprs 2 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

If you can fish at all, it is entirely possible to just seine them in front of someone. Once in a great while I do it for an hour or so, just to prove the point. Champ188 and Ham 2

This is true - I fought the beast, fishing next to folks w/o "The Ned" this last summer - at first there was a significant amount of pleasure in catching fish as they watched in awe....finally I was the rock star of fishing slinging my 6'6" rod around loaded w/6lb line and the little guy on the end...well without the tattoos and groupies....then humility sets in and next thing you know heads, zinkers and other things are being handed out...and I think that my heart also grew in size...no wait that was a cartoon that was on a few days ago....anyway keep on nedding my internet fishing friends....and remember I dont always Ned fish but when I do I use Dave's heads.....stay fishy my friends. You don't see an exaggerated tail movement, you don't see any wobble. That's the beauty of a Ned. It perfectly imitates that. But it also combines this movement with a more realistic profile than a slider worm or fish Doctor type worm. Plus, it doesn't tickle their lateral line at all, so they can't get a bad memory of the sound. I'm thinking the less shaking you do, the better. If you notice the fish getting wild over exaggerated movement, you're better off fishing another lure. Another theory I have is when a small craw is in it's natural state, or in full flight, it's legs are usually positioned under it's body with it's pinchers straight out in front of it. Only when they're in full defensive mode are their legs out and very visible like most plastic craw baits. So basically a Ned would look very much like a craw that is very unaware of what's going on around it, or one that is down to it's last ditch effort to get away and it's defenses are useless.
