Man people are quick to throw stones.. I think both shows are great shows and are a change from what the traditional fishing shows have been like. The bring energy and also a lot of tips. I guess to each their own.. but one thing is for certain they must be doing something right because they have a successful fishing show and are getting to do it for a living with big time sponsors.

Would have liked to have seen more than just drop shot n but this was a show tailored to his kids which very glad to see someone showing a good example of what being a father is like on TV. Don't see that much these days..

We aren't as nasty as we seem. Those two just really don't match the local flavor.

You are somehow blind to the product placement and the endless shilling for his sponsers. Strike King this and Striike king that. Nitro, Nitro, Nitro.

Yeah, you're probably right. But, there isn't a fishing show on TV that isn't pushing something. And, there is a wide spectrum of how far they'll go to shove it in your face. I guess I find the product camera shots slightly easier to take than John Gillespie screaming "get the Frabill"!

I like Zona he just takes it too far sometimes. You're correct in that he's middle of the road as far as pimping goes. There are lots worse shows no doubt.

Like Fishing University with Charlie Ingram. One sponsor for 30 minutes. They do have some useful boat info from time to time though. And they are quieter. Much quieter.

You can't tell me the show he did with KVD was not fun to watch. The under water camera of the small mouth hitting the A-Rig was one of the best! The Sun fish show from yesterday was pretty cool as well. Like I said to each their own..

Of course they are going to push products that's the name of the game. You can watch a lot of fishing reports for TR and get the same thing in regards to people pushing products.

I like a good fishing show, but so many of them are unwatchable.  Not only the personalities in some of these shows, but locations.

I was watching Shaw Grigsby (He's got an irritating, high pitched giggle) fishing in Florida.  He's punching mats.  Every time he caught a fish, he'd muscle it out of that hydrilla, and the fish would be encased in a massive glob of weeds, once he got it to the boat, you literally could not see the fish for all the weeds they were buried in.  Then he'd go on about how you have to use 65 lb. braid, a stout rod, etc., and he'd go through that shtick every time he caught a fish.  Looked about as fun as snagging stumps in Table Rock.  If that's how you have to catch bass in Florida, it would turn me into a salt water fisherman if I lived there.

punchin', pitching, flipping, my absolute favorite ways to fish for bass is in heavy cover on a short string, the best part is when you pull off all that salad and SURPRISE there's  a 16lb bass on your hook ! Those big bass live in the hardest stuff to fish. If your're not in their house the chances of getting bit by one are slim imo.

Grigsby is a clown for sure.

We know professional tv fisherman, and other pro athletes  are required by their contracts with their sponsors to be very friendly, talk to you in seminars and on the water, after the game or wherever. So naturally our first impression when we meet them is "wow he's a really cool dude". Now that he's done his job and we like him we're more willing to buy their sponsored products now. Sure a lot of those guys are really cool , a lot of "pros" are really not as cool as we may think. Jmo

I work in recreation and tourism. I have to be polite, friendly, courteous no matter. When you first meet me at work I seem like a really nice guy too. After I clock out well.... I'm not so nice, lol.

I always got a big laugh out of Virgil Ward and his sarcasm. He usually took a shot at his son Greg. Things like, "I'll try not to cast under you next time Greg", after Greg had cast over his line. Or after Greg would bounce a fish off 2 or 3 rails of their pontoon, " Nice release Greg"
