Starting a spinnerbait box from scratch

I don't know, it's been a while since I've bought any. The last ones I got were online direct from them. Not sure if they are still around or not.

TW still has lots of Picasso spinnerbaits listed. May have shut down and been purchased. Don't know.

My go to spinnerbait for years has been the Picasso 1/4 oz size double willow in a shad color, with one white painted blade and one chrome. I add a good lump of solder to the shank of the hook to give it a little extra weight, and burn it fast on flats on cloudy days. I've had some unreal strikes on that bait, those clear water bass  will just slam it!

War Eagle baits use a light piano wire, which certainly can be prone to break after lots of use. The advantage to the light wire is that it allows maximum vibration from the blades. The disadvantage is, the wire can break. Best not to swing fish on these baits, particularly the 1/4-ounce models, which use an even lighter wire than the bigger baits. Everything in life is a tradeoff. In this case, you give up strength for more vibration.

This is why I like the old Mann's Hank Parker Classic Spinnerbait. The thinner wire really makes the blades on that thump. I love those spinnerbaits but they are harder to come by these days. I also like the twisted loop line tie as opposed to the R bend open line ties seen on most spinnerbaits these days.

Only spinner bait I use consistently last year was the less expensive terminator bluegill. For the end of summer to early winter I never took it off my rod.

you really only need three.  A half ounce white tandem spinnerbait with #5 willows, one gold, one silver.  Add a chartreuse trailer in dirtier water.  A 3/8 oz Terminator, with a small Colorado blade and a #4 silver willow.  Chart/white skirt, add a trailer in either white or chartreuse if needed.  And a black/blue  3/8 ounce single Colorado thumper blade for real muddy water or at night.  If you can't catch them with these, they are not biting spinnerbaits.   The War Eagles are good baits.  You can substitute them anytime in the above.

Slightly disagree, but then I am not known as a SB fisher.

3/8 ounce black deer hair twin spin (buy a War Eagle and hand tie the skirt) with an upside down green spot frog trailer.

1/2 ounce Terminator T1 in blue shad with a Colorado/willow blade set

3/8 ounce single large Colorado blade in chartreuse and blue

 1/2 ounce Booyah Counterstrike buzz bait in Limesickle

just a four bait suggestion
