mjk86 Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 Its as expensive as you let it be. Or your wife lets it be. mixermarkb and Old plug 2
David Unnerstall Posted January 22, 2016 Posted January 22, 2016 I am trying to picture how one would co-exist with thirty rods in a boat. I can't imagine it. I would think you would have to have another boat tied up to yours with a rod rack that will hold thirty rods.

Shoot, I can get inside it and shut the lid. Took the tubes out because they limit you to about 12 rods, and are rough on big spinning guides. Maybe we should start a boat organization thread. mixermarkb, Blll and Eric the awful fisherman 3
Rodmaker Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 My biggest fear is my wife selling all my fishing gear for what she thinks I paid for it ! fisherofmen11, MOsmallies, snakem and 4 others 7
mixermarkb Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I don't know that I'm at 30, but I'm sure I'm at least in the 20's. Most trips I have about 12 or so in the boat, including spares and rods for guests. I try and keep the boat light, and only take what the seasonal patterns and the lake I'm planning to fish say I'll need. I've been bitten in the butt a couple of times from not having something I'd like to have with me, but for me it's easier to just have less stuff in the boat. I also try and cull baits that I haven't caught fish on. I'll try something new from time to time, but if I don't get anything going with it, it goes away. same with colors. I try and keep things to two or three colors per bait, enough to let me match conditions, but I don't get too specific. I don't want to be second guessing the whole time I'm fishing, I want to be focusing my brain on where the fish are and what they are doing. I found I'm a better fisherman with less stuff to choose from, but it's still hard to keep things streamlined, mainly because some of you bastards keep posting links to tackle warehouse!!! Old plug Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 If this forum was a lake it would be a hot spot since it is full of fish to hook. mixermarkb 1
Ranger Z22 Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I am at 14 rods, but there was a time 22 to 25 was not out of the question. I may shuttle a rod in here and there but when its usefullness has expired, back to the garage. z22 Champ188 and mixermarkb 2
dwiebenga Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I am down to 6 Falcon Caras. Much simpler. Ham and mixermarkb 2
Ham Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 I wouldn't sweat having 10. I actually think you need 2 rods rigged and ready for some techniques and you didn't mention spinnerbaits. Tap the brakes at 20 combos. 30 seems like a lot to take, but I usually have 10 out on deck if Im fishing solo. I used em all too. mixermarkb 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. Ham Posted January 23, 2016 Posted January 23, 2016 When I am a guest in another persons boat, I try to limit myself to 6 combos or less depending on boat size. On multiday canoe trips, I only carry three so it can be done. It helps to be sure on what's happening fishing wise. mixermarkb 1 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future.
