chi0082 Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Why? Because I'm a selfish greedy river rat bum. All seriousness aside, walleye just taste better than any other fish and many fisherman pursue them. So since it is a fragile and limited resource (they aren't very successful at spawning) if fisherman got good at catching them, the population would suffer considerably. With today's technology fisherman are getting better and better at locating and catching walleye, that many quality fisheries are ruined by over-fishing. Believe me when I say that a lake can not be big enough to avoid this. If walleye were like crappie or white bass and their spawn was just as successful, I wouldn't care as much. Call me narrow-minded or selfish, but yea, that's my view anyways. On another note, I'm all about helping people catch every other fish, just not walleye. bfishn 1
Bill Babler Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 K. Just make sure you tell a loved one or show a child or a friend before you go. Taking such info to the grave is a waste of the valuable education you have worked so hard to learn and perfect over your lifetime. Treasures like that should not be wasted. Ham Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Funny story about sharing information. We were having a family reunion in Northern Louisiana. At the time, the Red River was a relatively new fishery. Numbers of fish were exploding. Max size was pretty limited say 6 lb or so, but plenty of 12-17 inch bass. Fun, Fun, Fun fishing. So my cousins were not all that familiar with the Red river or river fishing. My Dad was fishing the Red a bunch. SO, he laid it all out of them. Told them where to go and exactly what to do to catch fish. They go out and catch a bunch of fish and then they are bragging about what they did and what they know to the guy who had told them all about it. Never a Thank You or a boy were you right. They are good at catching fish once you tell them where and how, but not so Great at being humble or Thankful. magicwormman, bfishn and dtrs5kprs 3 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. Sore Thumbs Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 I share everything I do on the rock. I don't fish it enough to save anything. Last time I purposely took pics of where I was. I want others to enjoy what I enjoyed. That's what this Forum is about. If someone wants be tight lipped going into a tournament I get that, but fish move constantly so why not share? arsenal1477, Codywskeeter1521, marcus and 1 other 4

Well the Big Bass Tournament is this weekend and I believe Alex is fishing it....so I more than get what he is doing by photo shopping the backdrop to his locations. abkeenan Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 People are so uptight about their spots. I can understand on a small creek or stream, but on table rock? I dont get it. Angling cameras in such a way so as to not show the back ground, scratching the trees/docks out of the back ground. Makes no sense to me on a 50 thousand acre reservoir. Maybe its improper forum etiquette or something to give up your fishing spot, but i happily tell folks exactly where i can catch em. Its def nice to help someone out who is struggling to catch em. Also....if your on big walleyes at table rock...id say your skills are good enough to find bass. Stay on em!! Post some pics!! But, for heavens sake, dont let us see the spot your fishing in the back ground. I will disagree. Just look at how many views are on Alex's thread. As of my typing this it is up to 1,796 views. There are more prying eyes on this forum from non-contributors than you think. They would use that info and probably fish the crap out of his locations just based on the pics. ESPECIALLY this weekend with out of towner's and heck even locals fishing in the KVD Big Bass this weekend. Don't blame him one bit for what he did. Giving people a depth range and if you are nice enough to give a handful of baits that you used is more than generous. Babler, Quill and others go above and beyond. You start showing EXACT locations......might as well just give gps coordinates, tie the lure on for them and cast it out there too. arsenal1477, dtrs5kprs, magicwormman and 3 others 6
rps Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 Some of my posts have caused a noticeable increase in boats on the spot. What I have noticed is that two or three years later, the location/method dwindles but the spot or technique remains. In the mean time I have found other places and other ways. Those of you with the experience/knowledge, how long is the cycle before everything starts over again. For example, the Big O hit hard but square bill cranks took how long to show up?
Ham Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 To each his own, but I have spots on Bull Shoals that would be worthless if a couple of boats a week fished them. I sometimes choose to share information, but it is usually types of areas and general technique information. I have no desire to pull extra boats onto areas I have worked out for myself and I'm never ever giving anything away that was shared with me by someone else. chi0082 and bfishn 2 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. Champ188 Posted March 28, 2016 Posted March 28, 2016 On the other hand, I know where to catch big walleyes, and that's a secret I will bring with me to the grave. hehe. Sounds like your version of give-and-take = we give, you take, done deal. On the other hand, since the info in your head is enough to wipe out our Walters if it fell into hillbilly hands, probably best that you don't spill the beans. m&m Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 For example, the Big O hit hard but square bill cranks took how long to show up? RPS, my son and I were fishing Saturday in Long Creek. He decided to tie on a big O. We talked for the next 30 minutes about it being the first square bill but nobody called it that. So now I'm waiting for the Natural Ike to make a comeback under a new name. Mike
