Saturday afternoon on a float stream.................They will be seeing the a lot of "nature".

My last float trip was quite a while ago after going floating for years.  I was floating with my wife and we came around the corner to see two girls doing a strip tease on the gravel bar with a bunch of drunken idiots cheering them on.  The trip before I was challenged to a fight by two drunks because I took offense to what they were saying to my wife.

We quite after that and I really miss it.  We had many great trips in the heat of the summer just relaxing and cooling off.   Then the young drunks started showing up everywhere.

You can float starting in March (some years) thru November (most years). Lots less young, drunk, and stupids on the water in the off season.

Just sayin

Yeah I know.  But we liked to go on real hot days like today.  I feel they robbed me of a great activity.

When did it become like this?  I went when I was young and we didn't do this stuff.

I just mentioned this to my wife last night and she misses it too.

Went last weekend,  very hot.  Didn't see many floaters other than us.  Couple families and us older crowd (mid 30's to mid 40's).  Floated the Current to Jacks Fork.  Nice time.

They did rob you. This post is sad, it makes me want to scream out Who's in charge! The unfortunate answer is no one is in charge. Even on our federally regulated streams it seems anything goes.

Daryk,

Im gad things worked out well. Maybe one of the young men you took will turn into a future leader who can influence change so that good men like Pete won't be robbed of the streams they love.

1) Breakdown of nuclear family. Less people are taught how to behave.

2) people turned there back on God/organized religion. again, I think people know when they are behaving badly, they just don't care.

3) narcissism and the resulting me first attitudes.

People no longer want to do the right thing because its the right thing. Golden Rule has been forgotten.

My wife and I were talking about this yesterday again.  It was 18 years ago when we went on our last trip.  Of course we are on the Meramec at Onondaga so I'm sure it has to be the busiest location to float in the state.  Still, if I caught my kids acting like that I'd kick their a$$e$$.  And they know it.

A stable family where Mom and Dad consider raising children to be a full time job that requires their full time attention is just not the norm anymore.
