I don't know where it goes, and don't really care. I guess the birds or something eat it, not my problem. HOWEVER one of the three takes giant poops. He left one on the rug the other day, and if I hadn't caught him in the act I would have thought someone broke in through the back door, took nothing, and left a giant steaming pile for me on the rug. As a teen I worked for a crazyass plumber. We were replacing water lines and drains on an old house and had the water service shut off. The people who owned the house were gone. My old plumber boss announced that he had to go take a crap....and just disappeared. About 15 minutes later here he came back, and I knew he wasn't gone long enough to run down the road to Hardee's (the closest place with a restroom) so I said "I thought you were going to S#it". I did, he says. Where? "Litter box in the laundry room. When they go to clean that out they'll think their cat has a SERIOUS problem". Mitch f, David Unnerstall, Terrierman and 1 other 4

Wrench, wasn't it you who wrote "you gotta read ALL of these topics because you never know what direction they will take?"
Mark Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Are there more coyotes in Missouri than there were 30-40 years ago? I am not a hunter but have heard the theory that rabbit hunting has declined over the past several decades because of abundance of coyotes. I seems to me that there are less rabbits than when I was a kid. But don't know that for a fact. I would guess not as many people hunt coyotes as in the past when many more people lived on small farms with livestock and kept the coyote population in check. Seems like the great majority of hunters hunt only deer and turkeys, and probably very few coyote hunters. I also understand that trapping and hunting for furs is not very profitable anymore. Curious if any of you wiser outdoorsman think rabbit hunting has declined and if coyotes are the culprits. And if coyotes need to be thinned. I know a few guys who rabbit hunt with dogs - always thought that would be fun - these guys told me about the rabbit/coyote theory. Makes sense to me.
Devan S. Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I'm not sure if there are more....I'm simply not old enough to know. I know where I hunt frequently the coyotes are smart. Lots of small tracts of land with tons of cover and tons of farmers that shoot at them from the road makes targeting them more difficult compared to when I have hunted in Oklahoma. I can tell you about 3 or 4 of the spots I have the most success calling are within a few hundred yards of good populations of turkeys. Fur prices are in the toilet and my fur buyer didn't buy at all last year. The last couple years the price hasn't even been remotely close to high enough to break even trapping and hunting.
Blazerman Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 In 1994 we moved to our new home in St Charles that we had built. One of the reasons i picked the lot was because of the nice woodlot behind it. Once we moved in, it didn't take long before we started seeing different critters include coyotes, a fox and deer. And it wasn't much later we lost two cats that had made their way outside. i never did decide if it was the fox or the coyotes that got the cats but i did find their pelts. My big lab/ husky mix ended up killing the fox. i have hunted off and on for 40 years and where we hunted in Lewis county there were years we would see a bunch of coyotes and years we didn't see as many. i am sure there are a lot of factors that go into it but you can bet in the years there are more, you will see less rabbits. The farmer where we hunted always said shoot every coyote you see. They would harass his cows with calf's and steal chickens like has been noted.
