Was at Van buren yesterday at there annual  lending a hand sports show for cancer, helping my friend Max work a booth for his local outdoor show.  These are always a fun experience, but what happened yesterday made it extra special to us.  A father and son stopped to chat and was talking smallmouth, so we gave they young man a sample grub to try out.  Talked a few minutes and moved on!  You could kind of tell the kid was kinda sad at first but didn't ask why, he lite up after my friend Max used his gift of reaching out to kids, so he was smiling when he left the booth.  Before he left I told him how to fish it and give it a try!  Last night after we got back home, we received this message on our page, and his dad personally called Max.  I couldn't help but tear up, made it all worth while to me!

I'm glad y'all were able to make that young man's life a little better. I'd hate to think about losing my Mother that early.

LRF - Great post! It's amazing how something so small like a jig can effect someone's life. I agree with Mitch you just never know what someone is going through, but can be affected by an act of kindness.

It gets better fellas, Max and I talked on the phone kind of teared up and he says he wasn't letting that boy Wait for his grubs to come in,  so he drove an hour to Elsinore today and met the boy and his dad gave him a big supply of plastics and a fishing pole!  My hat is off to max on this one I'm glad to be a  associated with something good !

Amazing what a little kindness can do raise peoples spirits.  Your buddy Max went out of his way for that youngun and just hearing about it has made my day better already.  What kind of jig head is he hanging those grubs on?

If I know Max, the jig head was nothing fancy. He may roll the best of the best with his hunting gear, but he keeps his fishing gear very basic. He Still catches them though.
