JestersHK Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Dang! glad you are alright. That looks like it smarted a bit. I like the honesty, but man you missed a prime opportunity to tell us all about the 24in 10lb smallie you had hooked up who was so ferocious he pulled you off the back deck and when you flipped him into the boat his massive tail smashed your face into the console right before he broke off and flung himself back into the river! Only to be caught successfully moments later by HogWally who then lost consciousness over just how big the fish was! Come on man its ok, you can tell us the truth! Mitch f and Daryk Campbell Sr 2
ness Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Geez -- glad you're doing as well as you are. That was bad, but could have been far, far worse. Hope you're back out on the water soon. John
jdmidwest Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Ouch. When I saw the pics, I thought you had taken a close look at the trolling motor prop. Hog Wally and Smalliebigs 2 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
LittleRedFisherman Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Scott, man you weren't kidding about the gash... Glad you are Ok and taking it in stride! There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!
Haris122 Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 darn Smalliebigs. That looks badass. Hope it heals up nice though. Not a flip flop wearer in general but man, that certainly makes one think twice about the choice of footwear while fishing.
jdmidwest Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Crocs will bust your butt pretty fast too. Especially when they get wore down. We hopped out of the boat last time we were on Pickwick and busted up a stream that entered into the lake. I came back, stepped on a log trying to get into the boat, and did a nice back flip due to the slick butt crocs I was wearing. Tore a little chunk out of my new goofy arm skin patch on the trolling motor trying to catch myself.. Come to find out, that tears pretty easy now. But, I don't feel a thing when it happens.. MOPanfisher Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 JD, true crocs are only somewhat better. They are horribly slick on the inside when they are wet. Always marketed as wading shoes but one of the worst for that use. I can see where when worn down they would be slickery for sure.
snagged in outlet 3 Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Keens! My daughter insisted on some open toed sandals that all the kids like. I told her they are an accident waiting to happen. Peeled her large toe toenail back while life guarding a float trip. Keens were an easy sell after that.

Got a pair of Merrill (similar to Keens) closed toe water shoes that I love. Not just for water anymore either. John
snagged in outlet 3 Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 I had a guide out west that used to tell clients not to wear open toe sandals on float trips due to injury. Been wearing Keens ever since. Probably 7-8 years now.
