I get in before the pay shack opens but when I leave, the attendants merely wave at me if they are there. Pretty good fishing down there too. Mike Hush, you.

I haven't launched there in a long time but was told of the $5 fee to Mr. Johnny. 45 minutes ago, abkeenan said: Hush, you. Long Creek is OK but NOTHING like Beardsley Branch. I think every fish in the lake has a relative that lives in Beardsley. That place is packed with big uns. dtrs5kprs 1
TRRANGER Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 58 minutes ago, Champ188 said: My beef with Mr. Morris is his history of manufacturing or putting his personal brand on shoddy products --- i.e., Nitro Boats, Johnny Morris Signature Series tackle, and any number of BPS-branded lures --- and then not standing behind them when they fall apart like a used Yugo. The internet is chock full of horror stories about Nitro owners getting the royal shaft on warranties, and the same stories can be heard frequently in local fishing circles. Don't know if things have improved since the 80's and 90's, but I sure hope so. I've personally experienced the anger of paying darn near $100 each for three JM Signature Series spinning reels only to have every dang one of 'em fall to pieces in a couple of years. The last one, which was a cannibalized version of all three, bit the dust a couple of weeks ago. Good darn riddance. Bought a couple of Pfleuger Presidents a month ago, so we'll see how they hold up. At least I was only out $59 each for them ... even less when you factor in a $20 discount coupon on a $100 purchase at Cabela's. Finally, it is my understanding that JM has leased the former Long Creek park and is charging $5 to launch a boat. I'm not crazy about paying $35 or $40 for a Corps pass every year to use ramps that we've already paid for, but I REALLY despise the idea of paying a private entity $5 EVERY TIME I want to launch. At least with the Corps you pay once and you're done. I have a couple of the Pfleuger Presidents and think you will like them, they are smooth and function flawlessly. I am totally in agreement with you on the Long Creek deal, we paid for that ramp, I have no problem with him getting day use fees if you come into the park to picnic or swim and camping fees as they are doing upkeep on property. It just seems kind of a crap deal to be charging fees to launch on a corp built ramp. I know personally of 3 extended Mercury warranties that were paid for at the Nitro dealer that were never registered or filed with Mercury. Quick pocket line of salesman and dealership. I also dislike the tourist trap issues, I get that it is a neat sight and it is truly art, But I really dislike having to wade through dozens of people taking pictures to find dozens of substandard baits and none of the name brand quality that I truly am looking for sold by knowledgeable sales people. instead you find a guy who has seen a fish in the freezer section at walmart selling tackle. they should put dedicated help in those niche areas and dedicated check outs and entrance and exits for purchasers rather than shoppers. MOPanfisher Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 The sales folks at BPS are an eclectic mixture of people that know the products and college kids who work cheap. We're I suddenly gifted with $ received from owning BPS, I would make it into an employee owned bidness, full time employees get to buy stock at a reduced price, non full time get only hourly rate. Who am i kidding i would likely have sold oit early on and become a roamimg semi alcoholic who camped and fished, and hoped my royalts checks came in on time. I have had good luck with most products from BPS and never had an issue returning something for store credit or replacement, but the key is doing a little research to know what things are junk, and what are worth the money. Are their products the top of the top tier, nope they sell what is popular or what folks want. From many reports the Nitro line has improved greatly in the last couple years. As for competition, basically he owns his own competition thus having a huge control of the market, who else is going to come along and decide they can beat BPS or Cabelas out of the market. There will continue to be the smaller niche retailers like Tackle Warehouse etc. Who exist on the fringe. vernon, Hughesy and MGP 3
fishinwrench Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Am I the only one that waits way too long for TW to get stuff to them ? I order things from all over the country on a regular basis. TW is right up there with Feather-Craft when it comes to Sloooooow shipping. I can order stuff from Bob Marriot's in CA. and Feather-Craft right here in STL on the same day. The order from Marriot's will be here in 2-3 days. Feather-Craft or TW takes 5-7 days. What's up with that?
Old plug Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Wrench----- You know Im jutdown the Hwy and I never had problem with TW. As matter of fact got stuff early a couple of times. Maybe because I generally buy a pile of platic stuff in the dead of winter. But have had them foul up a bit on one order. Maybe it is UPS out of Camdenton is the problem.

No other reason for my order to lay in Michigan, Indiana, or Arizona for 24 hours or more. Once it finally hits Camdenton it is here lickety-split.
