Smallieguy87 Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Last i checked you could pick up a Diawa Lexa on ebay for under $100. I've bought two off there brand new for $79. They're sealed up well and hold up extremely well to wade fishing ( that's about the only fishing i get to do ) mine have been abused big time and dunked and they just keep kickin. The Proycyon EX is outstanding if you can manage to talk the financial adviser into giving you a bit more budget. If that can't be done then i'd say Lexa all day long. As for the Golfing...never done it unless putt putt counts..... Champ188 1

Paired it up with my favorite St. Croix ML fast action rod and and sniper fc I also found on sale a while back. Looking forward to straight flouro on the 3000 reel. My original go-to Ned set up was braid to leader. I liked it and got good at tying the leader but it was a pain to have to ret-tie if needed. Hope to report back in the near future on the complete set up. And just stay consistent with the golf ball subject, I ran by Costco for some things today and have to admit I looked to see if they had the balls in stock, which they didn't. I wouldn't have bought anyway, but no thanks to you guys, had to look.... Sticking with the Velocities. dtrs5kprs and vernon 2

Another one to take a look at is Snell Golf. I think the Snells, Vice and Costco are all pretty similar although I think the Kirkland's at Costco are still considerably cheaper. I don't know if you'll agree here but I thought the Lexa felt a little heavy too until I put it on a rod and then I didn't notice it so much. Wondered if maybe it was more of a balance issue? Like, because of the larger spool maybe more weight is toward the front making it seem heavier? I don't know but thought it might be a factor. Not noticeable to me when fishing though. Just think though, now you have an entirely new purpose whenever you visit Costco! Instead of the same old boring trip for the usual stuff you can get a little excited kind of like an Easter egg hunt! Probably not, but thought it was worth a shot! dtrs5kprs 1 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." George Carlin "The only money ever wasted is money never spent." Me.
dtrs5kprs Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 That Lexa is definitely heavier than the Legalis, Exceler, etc. Think it's just built a little better, with nicer material. All of the Daiwas that share that spool size will work nicely. Have to be careful, couple of their 3000 run to different specs. The newest version Exceler 3000 is quite a bit bigger. Some of the low ends are a little narrower, and longer. vernon 1
Quillback Posted December 30, 2016 Posted December 30, 2016 Was just scrolling through the reels for sale in Cabelas Bargain Cave. They have those Lexa 3000 (and other sizes) on sale for $79. I am NOT buying one as I have enough spinning reels for now, but thought I would pass it on.

If you read through the 10 pages on this thread you read way too much about golf and that the Daiwa Lexas can be had for less than 80 bucks at Cabela's.
