Members ChuckHustle Posted January 26, 2017 Members Posted January 26, 2017 Random question, those of you that blind cast a shallow drop shot, which style of weight do you use and why? Thanks
Sore Thumbs Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I've had good luck with the jewel brand. They are tear drop shaped. Seem to get hung up a little less than the ball style. Haven't used cylinder type much. They all get hung up fairly easy and with light line you better have plenty of weights no matter which style you go with because you will lose some. magicwormman 1
Hunter53 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I use these https://homebrewedoutdoors.com/shop/cylinder-drop-shot-weights/ Good price so doesn't hurt as bad when losing a few. They also have the ball type if you prefer those. skeeter 1
Ham Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I just used cheap bass casting sinkers 1/8 thru 3/8 about 20 cents each Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Guest Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 If your buying drop shot weights your costing yourself extra money, that stupid swivel click cuts the line & causes the line to break easy. I strictly use bass casting sinkers with the brass wire loop so they can spin on the shaft, I also use a double overhand knot so they pull off when stuck in the rocks to avoid losing my hook.
Sore Thumbs Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 If you want a chance to do bottom fish and suspended fish try putting a shakey head on bottom and drop shot up top. Make leader slightly longer. Weedless weight with hook. Might get lucky and get two at one time. That setup would be better with those drop shot hooks that swivel to prevent line twist. Sore Thumbs Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I have drop shot tied on every time I get the boat wet. If I'm going down a bank and I come across a dock I will always try one around the outside edges and in an open stall. shark bait and Carl W 2
Champ188 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Ned or shaky head will catch those same fish with a lot less rigging hassle. Smalls21, dtrs5kprs and vernon 3
