Yesterday at Big M I saw water temps 44-46.  I went back to look at my notes from the last couple of years, and last year I recorded 44 on an end of January trip.  Year before that I saw 42, year before that on 1/20 it was 40-42, but on February 19, it was 37-39.  Must have been a cold front in early February that year (2014).

It was the 49-50 at the dam that got my attention.

Vernon, that is what the gauge on my new Raymarines indicated. I had two of them installed and they both registered the same readings of temp and depth so I assume they were either both correct or both incorrect.

Is it possible that I saw an otter just south of Holiday Island ? Are there otters in Table Rock or White River? I know it was an Otter but I've never seen or heard anyone else mention them. I was pretty close to it and it was walking in the trees near a point.

the dang things are every where, and they are not good on fish populations.  the do not just kill to eat.  they kill for the fun of it.  go take a look at the creeks they are in.  they are devoid of everything.  many dock owners that have put brush out to keep fish around are complaining that there is nothing around their dock.  one look at all the otter poop around is all you need to see to know why there are not fish around the dock.  another one of the wonderful things the mdc has done for fishing.

and yes, they are in beaver and surrounding areas.  one of the few coves in kings river has a whole pack of them in it, and it is just about impossible to catch even a crappie in there anymore.  the other bad thing is there is not much trapping anymore to keep their numbers in check, and we are beginning to be overrun with them.  hope they do not ruin some of your fishing areas.

MDC created otters?  Who knew.

MDC stocked them, traded turkeys or rattle snakes for them.  They created them again, kinda.

I don't understand many thoughts on here! God created all these critters and mankind has ether hunted them to extenction or completely wiped out their habitat.

Now MDC is trying to reintroduce many different species back to their native land and whomevers livleyhood is affected complains.

That unfair and selfish. Live and let live, all the animals were here long before us, it's mankind that had destroyed habitat and is trying to reintroduce some. Thanks MDC! IMO

My dad was born and raised on a dairy farm north of Aurora in 1934.

He never seen turkeys and only a few deer until MDC started restocking, look how many are around now. But farmers are complaining of crop loss because of the fragile balance. The balance that ourselves, mankind has implemented! That's my opinion!
