jdmidwest Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 The simplicity of the bait is the ability to use what is already in your box. I have used both cut Zinkers and the pre-made ones. I think the cut ones catch more fish, only because the Z Man has not come out with the secret colors that work. dtrs5kprs 1 "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Old plug Posted February 13, 2017 Posted February 13, 2017 I am a bog tome user of tiny shad for crappie on both jigs and road runners. and some of them or even trimmed. those tiny shad are fetting harder to find all the time. when your fishing certical or close to it they tend to drop straight and not twist tour line

Seth Posted February 14, 2017 Posted February 14, 2017 I've come to the conclusion that PBJ ZinkerZ's are the only color I need to bother carrying in my box for NED fishing. It produced over 50 smallies for me and a buddy on the Gasconade this past Sunday. I don't fish them as heavily as some of you, but it seems that everytime I do, I always end up settling on the PBJ color. It just flat works! I'd imagine a white version would work best around the spawn, but I don't bass fish much when they are spawning. Johnsfolly and big c 2

PBJ is the bread and butter color for sure. If you fish it every day for 2-3 weeks, you will hit a day or two where they want something else. Think it is heavily tied to forage. Around the spawn, the "perch" colors, or "bright greens" are hard to beat. Watermelon candy, sprayed grass, w'melon, easy money. Johnsfolly, crazy4fishin, Blll and 5 others 8
Members Dances With Smallies Posted February 17, 2017 Members Posted February 17, 2017 Does the PBJ vary from bag to bag like some of the others? When I started testing the Ned I started with a bag each of a few colors recommended on here. At least on the rivers on the OK side of the border, the green pumpkin red flake absolutely dominates (for me at least). I usually buy four bags of those and one bag of a different color at a time to try something new. The one bag of PBJ that I bought probably three years ago seemed not as salty and almost a different texture than the other colors I've used. Did I just get a weird bag? I kind of want to give PBJ another go after this discussion.

At least, that has been my experience.
Seth Posted February 17, 2017 Posted February 17, 2017 I noticed my PBJ ZinkerZ's didn't seem to have much salt the other day either. It didn't seem to matter much though as far as the fish eating the bait. My partner was using a different type of stick worm, but it was still PBJ and the fish were eating his pretty good as well.
