Ive watched youtube videos of such boats,  Taney is huge compared to the skinny water those things navigate that i have seen.  that will def hack some fisherman off if it happens

that would be a hell of a ride

Not really surprised that this is going in - or at least attempting to go in, disappointing for sure

The Landing has been adding attractions over the years to drive traffic and increase revenue - all you have to do is listen to the local Chamber....or read their website. I understand the business side but you do have to draw a line somewhere.

Heck I get a little nervous going to the Landing area when the Ducks are running!

Phil's initial post on the extremely heavily censored Branson1 forum on this topic somehow got past the outrageous amount of censorship over there.

The old obnoxious fuddy-duddy that runs the forum won't allow any conversation or post he deems to be controversial or negative about Branson...even well-meaning discussions about the safety, or obvious lack thereof, of the impact of this huge watercraft on boaters and Anglers on Taneycomo and who or what Government agency is permitting this oversized thing.

I already have a safety concern with the fog and amount of Kayaks I saw on the lake last year.  This does not seem like a very thought out idea.  They have giant speed boats at Navy Pier on Lake Michigan...that seems more like it!

With everything so far being based on rumors and speculation I have to wonder about the size of the planned boat. Maybe something more in line with the 15 passengers shown in the previous post. But even at that size, there would not be a safe area anywhere up lake from Rockaway. I'm also wondering if that isn't the planned area for the donuts and spin outs. Take a fast ride down from the Landing, play for a while, and run back to the Landing. Better, but still not a good idea for a lake known primarily for fishing.

Sounds like trouble.  I can't imagine how many pd off fisher people, and other pleasure boat operators this will create.  Hate to be the poor kid that answers the phone.    Does the Coast Guard license the boat operators?

If it's the same type, my wife and I rode on one of these in Myrtle Beach just to see what it was like. Vastly different from riding in a fishing or bass boat, for sure. The thing could move - and in a hurry. Definitely torn on this one. I don't know what the effect would be to things like fishing, boat traffic, etc. and it's obviously got some inherent dangers with the type of lake Taney is and the type of traffic it typically has (drifters, anchored boats, yaks and canoes, etc.). On the flip side, it's definitely another family friendly (I would assume) attraction for the area which help to bring in more $$$ and people, which always helps our local economy.

I read something earlier about some possible other attractions coming to town (some at the landing and one where the old water chutes where). Maybe this has some tie in with that?

It's gotta make you wonder what the insurance and operating costs on an operation like that costs. If you are in any co-occupied waters, you obviously share a risk both with the riders and with other people occupying said body of water.
