BilletHead Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 XP 590 wanted some info on this fly I have been catching bass on. So I thought I would do a quick step by step. Fish shanks size 10,15 and 20 MM. 6/0 thread color of your choice Dubbing. I like the way sheep hair works mixed with some flash (ice dub) Here I am going with plain white sheep. Have used synthetics and other dubbing mixes, again sheep mixes flow nicely in the water. On this one I use a Gamakatsu B10 stinger Chuck up the smallest shank and make a dubbing loop then spin it up and brush it up fluffy. Stroke the dubbing to one side and wrap up the shank and whip finish, Section one brushed out, Connect to next shank size and repeat dubbing process. Two shanks finished and brushed out with my velcro brush, Repeat again with third shank, Rigging the hook. There is several ways this could be done. Wire and bead etc. I use a wire form made for pouring lead spoons. Snip it in half and attach to your hook, Hook the three sections you made and close gap. Again repeat the dubbing process on this final section. Thus making four sections. You could do as many as you want I like this make up the most. Depending on the length of your hair on dubbing lengths will determine the fluke total length. Here is some I have done.Smallest on here three and a half up to five and a half inches long. Never had much of a problem whit any fowling just fish inhaling this too deep like a plastic worm. Not mush different than game changer articulated streamers. Just more worm like and no need to trim up to look fishy. They take their own shape, I kind of just threw a generic name to this but it is more like a fluke. It sinks very slow and I just jerk it back. It compresses some on the strip and at the pause it kind of fluffs back out. Strip and repeat the pause. It will dart side to side and undulate in the water. I guess some lead or a larger hook would let it sink faster but I like the hovering effect of this size. Bass love it and have caught some real dandy pig bluegill with it too, Maybe glue on some eyes? Make it your own and modify to suit your needs and share your methods please, BilletHead trythisonemv, Eric82, Johnsfolly and 1 other 4 "We have met the enemy and it is us", Pogo If you compete with your fellow anglers, you become their competitor, If you help them you become their friend" Lefty Kreh " Never display your knowledge, you only share it" Lefty Kreh "Eat more bass and there will be more room for walleye to grow!" BilletHead Posted February 20, 2017 Author Posted February 20, 2017 Thanks fellows, Hey snagged with your pedigree I figured you had several rods and fly tackle boxes dedicated to the green bass . On to important stuff now. What does a guy do once he ties a new fly or streamer? Well you have to go to water and try it out. see here they like the white sparkly one. Landed ten and had another nice one hooked but he came unbuttoned. Want proof of a couple that were landed? See here is one with a mouth full of the new tie, , An then drum roll please, and today's winner is at a full 21 inches long, a little piggy, Just think what I could do if I had one tied up in Fishinwrench bubblegum pink? I built my first couple spinning rods and then bought a bait caster. I like conventional fishing for bass but your pics might me get me to break out the whip. trythisonemv and BilletHead 2
fishinwrench Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Bubblegum is worthless until they are on beds in dirty water, but then it is unbeatable. ? BilletHead and trythisonemv 2
Flysmallie Posted February 20, 2017 Posted February 20, 2017 Pink is ALWAYS good. Except when it's not. trythisonemv and BilletHead 2

That's bigger than those that I used to catch in Florida. What a pig! BilletHead 1
