I don't care one bit about how guys get their info. or whether or not A-rigs are allowed. All I care about nowadays is the constant hauling around and relocating of the fish. If they ever stop doing that I will probably start competing again. Expand What is stopping more trails from going to the catch - photo -measure release format? For the B.A.S.S. and big Tourneys I know it's the glamour of pulling up in their shiny new rigs with the music blaring in front of the crowd and making for good TV, but that's not what makes up 99% of the tourney's affecting the fish. I know in the salt many tournaments have gone away from the live weigh ins especially with the advent of so many kayak derby's. Get something started Wrench several would support it!

We start a group text before heading out and report our weights as we catch them (score tracker style). Snap a pic of the right side of each fish (time stamp on the pic matches the time of the text update). We only had one issue when one of the guys didn't get a couple of text updates and thought he was better off than he was, but that was easily ironed out later to everyone's satisfaction. Is it possible to cheat? Sure. But it's possible to cheat any other way too. It does cause you some anxiety when you're not catching them and your phone keeps dinging. ? merc1997 Bo, dtrs5kprs and magicwormman 3

In the salt water tournaments a unique token is given out each morning and must be in the picture with the fish laying on an approved bump board. mixermarkb 1
fishinwrench Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Yeah we thought about using the daily newspaper, but in truth we all trust each other. And as I said there's no way to change the date/time on phone pics. They don't lie.

Seriously you're thinking too hard about all of this. By your rules anyone with more information or experience should be automatically banned from participating. Whether they bought the information, was fed it for free, or earned it the hard way is absolutely uncontrollable. Fish don't care if you skip church. Expand I think guys paying for bass in bobs stuff is the exact same thing lol I think a fisherman should be rewarded for his experience. For all the years of information gathered. Not show up and buy it a week out . I also have problems with pros going to the lakes and planting brush before their tournaments . As for fish hauling, there are guys that live on your lake that relocate fish all week. They go out catch 6 take them to their little dock and let them go every day they fish. In hopes of a tournament winning bag coming off a place they saturated with release fish. I've also heard stories of people feeding bass with loads of trapped crayfish , all of which are considered legal .
fishinwrench Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 I kinda have to agree with you about planting brush, especially when it's intentionally planted on a ledge within a mile or so of a release area. There are some dandy's here that everyone might as well know about.
dblades Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 I don't have a problem with anything that's within the rules. Hire a guide, ride with a local, plant some brush if you think it will help. Anything less is placing yourself at a competitive disadvantage. The real pro's fish for a living, not bragging right or moral superiority . dtrs5kprs 1
Bass Enforcer Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 I will chime in to say this. How does it make any difference if the pro is out getting information to put them in a better position of winning, differ from someone going to school or taking training to make them better at their job. One thing that I think makes this particular topic a little more judgmental toward pro fisherman by some, is because they don't look at fishing being A REAL JOB! But it is for them. Fishing is how they pay their bills feed their family. For instance Wrench, though I don't know him personally but he seems to graciously offer his expertise when it comes to boat mechanic advise and I trust it. But with the everyday changing of technology he, I'm sure has to update himself through training. No different. Additionally they earn wages by giving plugs to someone's baits/lures. If you don't pay them to do it,do they owe you that plug? Maybe it would be a nice thing to do and I would do it for you Bo but I'm not sure it's fair to "expect" them to do free advertising for your company. I will apologize in advance if I missed you explain why they owe that to you Bo. Just thought I would voice my opinion as a neutral party in that regard. fishinwrench Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 Enforcer,. It's only different because everybody wants to be a professional angler. I promise you that if everyone that wanted to be a full-time pro could live that life for about 16 months they'd want out of that line of work asap. Because it's only fun about 2% of the time. magicwormman, Champ188, mixermarkb and 5 others 8
