Ketchup Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Hey Ben, if you ever want to get off shore, your welcome to come fish in my boat anytime. I usually fish at Aunts Creek or Cape Fair. But I can launch anywhere. Nice catches. Ben Gillispie and jim m 2 TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. If interested in info send me a PM.

buckcreekmike Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 Very nice. You know, sometimes being landlocked is ok, you only fish what you can get to. Go out in a boat and you have 50,000 acres to guess at!

Go out in a boat and you have 50,000 acres to guess at! Very true... I have learned to vertical fish with the best of them not out of desire, but necessity. I'd much rather work a worm or jig on the bottom, but had no luck lately, so I started counting the fall, learning rough fall rates, etc. It is still strange to me when you are fishing for fish that are not related to anything, open water. magicwormman and vernon 2
Champ188 Posted March 9, 2017 Posted March 9, 2017 As you likely know, those fish are relating to bait, Ben. Bass of all colors -- but especially spots -- will suspend where schools of bait are present. You are doing yourself a mountain-sized favor by learning to count your lure down and keep it in the strike zone. dtrs5kprs, magicwormman and jim m 3

It can be hard fishing the way you are without electronics to know just how deep the bait, and fish are suspended. In that case start with a 4 second count, if nothing after a few casts, try an 8 second count, etc. until you find the magic depth. TinBoats BassClub. An aluminum only bass club. No one has said "avocado" in years! That old Mann's Stingray grub has caught millions of bass over the years. dtrs5kprs and vernon 2
