Skeeter ZX190 Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 I read thru the thread about spending wisely and efficiently regarding Wiggle Warts or Rock Crawlers. Thanks abkeenan for posting that video about the guy that has the collection. He explains how to tell the difference between the pre and post Rapala Wiggle Warts. I am not much of a crank bait fisherman but I do have some Wiggle Warts. That video got me to thinking "I wonder if I have some pre-Rapala Wiggle Warts?". I only have maybe a total of 15 or 17 Wiggle Warts, but low and behold, I am pretty sure 10 of them are pre-Rapala because they have Wiggle Wart Stamped on the lip. Here's my collection. I had no clue. abkeenan, Mitch f and dtrs5kprs 3
Guest Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 We should start a pre rapala wiggle wart appreciation thread where we could show off or make trades. Lol Seriously, I have a couple I would love to trade. I have a perch that I would trade for a V38 that's actually a green craw like the one you have in the photo.
Mitch f Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 To think I could've bought them on sale at Grandpa Pigeons for darn near nothing, back in the day!? abkeenan, mixermarkb, Ham and 1 other 4 "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor

Ham Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 Sell them. Sell them all. It's silly money that guys are throwing away for these baits. Champ188, Old plug, vernon and 3 others 6 Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
magicwormman Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 I think you should do a silent auction, using a PM to bid on them!
Browning Guy Posted March 14, 2017 Posted March 14, 2017 It has been 15 (??) years ago when Storm said they were doing away with the Wart. A secret squirrel phone call came telling me that BPS was closing them out for $1.99 with no limit. I along with another buyer (you know who you are) showed up bright and early at 7:00 a.m. the day the sale started and we bought them by the case box. I loaded my cart and so did he. I spent around $1500 and my wife thought I had lost it. Went back the next day to get more and they put a limit of 10 per customer out (sorry bout that, but they were doing away with them!). The metallic colors were selling on E-bay to the steelhead fisherman for stupid money and I would go by BPS twice a day to see what could be found to sell. I sold a lot of Warts 15 (??) years ago on E-bay and kept a bunch for my kids. Are the originals better? Who knows, but after I'm dead and gone hopefully my kids and their kids will still be fishing them. Either that or they will think dad/grandpa was nuts (most likely scenario). I still can't stand to lose one or I get jittery when one gets hung up. Spent 12-15 minutes the other day with a lure retriever getting one back. I grew up fishing them down here and it was just a way of life in fishing Tablerock. I still have a lot of the old, old originals my dad had. The world was coming to an end when Storm said no more and desperate times called for desperate measures. Darn the possible divorce all engines ahead full. Quillback, vernon, MOsmallies and 1 other 4
