My tin boat, a 16" Lund Rebel XS Sport, has an Evinrude Etec 90. With my simple SS prop at 5800 rpm it runs 37 mph (gps) at WOT. I might re-prop it and gain 2 to 4 mph, but why? It will still be a slower boat because a 90 is it's top rating. The key considerations for me? I did not pay for more boat than I needed and speed does not define how I fish. ANd nasty weather and water will not limit me.

Everything is about choices, right?

Holy flippin' tin can crotch rocket. With 3, count them 3, motors.  Crazy.   LOZ shootout? Must be different classes and not just the noisy go fast boats.

I'm one of those rare guys, that speed matters.  I had a 300EX 4 wheeler and after a few trips to the dunes, it was like riding a turtle, so I got a 400EX, and again, that was to slow. Last year I bought a new Kawasaki 450 4 wheeler, and had about $2000 worth to make it faster.   My Harley Heritage Softail wasn't enough. So I had Denneys Harley put aftermarket exhaust. Tuner, etc. to make it louder and faster.  Same with my dirt bikes, trucks, boats, etc.  I have always lived on the edge, and its what excites me. I've had boats that would only go 40, and get bored after owning them a week.  My current boat will do mid 60's and I wish it would do mid 70's.   Just something about speed for me.  My brother has a 1963 Chevy short wide bed truck that does the 1/4 in 9.02, and he drives it on the street. He's now trying to get it in the 8 second class.  Must run in the family.

As i get older my speedy days slow down, it's time to slow down and smell the roses...lol...My brother and i built a mud truck and it would run a 200 foot pit from a stand still in 2 foot of mud in under 4 seconds..1400 horse naturally aspirated 1100 foot pounds of torque Ford Hemi..

I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything!

Ok, I like going fast. If I ever get out of the champions I have now, I will own an Allison XB21, or possibly a kittykat eyra. It's fun to crack open the throttle on the 225 and let it eat, but having said that, I do it a lot less than I used to. Im plenty happy putting around in the 40-50 range, and enjoying the fuel economy of the Opti.

Gas prices and having kids sure change a lot of life.. LOL

The XB21 has me totally sold. I really think it will fish and ride very well, as well as go fast. It's a different sort of beast than the old XB-2002 and 2003, which were race boats with trolling motors. I'm convinced that the ally XB21 pro sport is the boat for me and the family, should I win the lottery or otherwise become wealthy, because I won't be getting any loans for new toys anytime soon.

I always find it funny, 90% of guys that say they dont care at all about speed have a 200-250 hanging off the back.

I have a 250, could care less about speed. That's just what you need to push a 2000# (empty) hull. I crack 60+ maybe twice a year with the kids, just coming back in on a hot day. May not see that this year if the lake doesn't come up. Call me tree averse.
