Dutch Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 We decided to try the Rock Thursday for a change and see if we could get some quality fish. We had a good SE wind with clouds and used a variety of baits. We wound up catching 22 bass but most were dinks. We used A rigs, worms, spinner baits, crank baits, jigs, and jerks. Most of the fish were on jerks close to the bank. Bluffs, points, rocks, gravel, cuts, etc. We just couldn't find quality fish.

Might be hard to get a response on where the big ones are hiding. dtrs5kprs, motoman and mixermarkb 3
magicwormman Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 The big fish bite is non existent! I haven't heard of anything decent, since the cold front. Hopefully, the bite will improve with some warmer temps.
dwiebenga Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 I would go back and read Bill Babler's post from two weeks ago (Swimming Deep for Big Fish is Nothing New) on swimming the grub. Based on that information, your boat was probably on top of the fish. Try it, just a hunch. Good luck. mixermarkb, Codywskeeter1521, magicwormman and 1 other 4

I almost hate to say this, but if you stick with the Ned all day you should run across a few quality fish. And if you're catching smaller fish, match your tackle to the fish and have some fun. 96 CHAMP, Smalls21, magicwormman and 3 others 6

That second part holds a lot of truth. Deep or shallow, the good ones don't seem to want anything moving, or made of the hard stuff. *T* 1

Dinks were the name of the game there also.

Take the little guy up shallower than you might expect. Transitions and isolated big rocks. Champ188 and Smalls21 2
Targa98 Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 I know this is not a monster by any stretch of the imagination but I caught this one on Saturday during the real crappy weather. It is my largest bass from table rock and my 3rd largest bass to date. I am more of a walleye and crappie fisherman but I do enjoy fishing to much to turn down a tournament pre fishing trip with a very good friend. We did well that day and it payed off the next day for him as well. This one was around the 5 # mark and to me thats a solid fish. magicwormman, abkeenan, Quillback and 3 others 6
