My 11 year old is having trouble with his fluro twisting while fishing wacky worms, flukes, grubs, underspins, etc on his spinning rods.  He closes the bail by hand as required, but the P-line and Seaguar fluro twists like crazy after an hour of fishing. Spooling it on correctly.

Went to braid with a 3' - 4' fluro leader, tying the.... loop the braid/wrap 4 times/wrap four times back through the loop and cinch down knot.  Wetting the lines and cinching down well.  The knots look great.  The problem - when he's casting and on some hook sets the line is breaking at the knot (I think).  All that comes back is a frayed end on the braid. Using St. Croix spinning rods with ceramic guides.  I put 10 # and 15 # aqua green Power Pro on his spinning reels so he can see the line easier for the lighter bites. What am I doing wrong? Bad spots in the braid? or is it the knot?  Danged if we do danged if we don't.  Thanks guys!

I'm using an Albright, more like 7-9 wraps. Loop is the FC side, unless the diameter won't work.

Did break one today for the first time. Used to break at least one uni to uni a day.

I agree the FG knot is good...I however am using the alberto.  I have broken several on purpose in my shop and disected the break "at the knot".  In most cases the flourocarbon breaks inside the knot at a nearly the same exact tension (lbs) as the flourocarbon alone.   If you have 8lbs flouro to 20lb braid it seams to break 1 out 4 times at the knot...I can't explain why, but it does.  However, again the tension is the same as the flouro tested alone.

I will say with nanofil or sufix 832 I use at least 10 wraps each way.  Also, if you sub out mono for flouro, it increases break strength 20%.

I went to Nano again after bagging it due to wind.  I solved the problem by buying another reel.  One is spooled with 6 pound Red Label and the other 10 pound Nano to 6 pound red label leader.  Alberto knot but I'm going to try the FG.

On a side note.  Walmarks has Pflueger's on sale for $44.  Can't beat that.

Bulky?   Lol...it's the thinnest knot you could possibly tie.  I hated the knot going through my guides so always kept me leaders shorter, with the FG I tie them 6' long and they last a long time.

I think the fact that it looks longer than other line to line options put it in my head that it seems bulky. After tying it a few times I can see that it really is thin and actually quite simple to tie. Gonna practice a little more then give it a go on the water soon

Didn't know you went back to the dark side and started using braid again.

Hey Ham.

I used the Nano setup over the weekend when the wind died down a little and it's amazing the feel that stuff has with a ned.  I love it.

And we also had a wart bite that was awesome.  They just hammered it and had that thing all the way down their throats.    Even caught a channel cat on it.

Nanofil is annoying in heavy wind, but I love it. The extra casting distance. Enhanced sensitivity. Long distance hooksets. Freaking awesome
