Turkey hunting on my own!!

Ok.  Mrs Billethead went hunting on her won yesterday morning (Mr out of town).  I went back to the spot where we had gone last week. Sat a few minutes and heard three birds gobbling back in the woods.  Just sit there and soon a hen flew out, then a couple other ones, and soon tommy!  I shot one time and boom he hit the ground.  I walked over to take a picture with my phone so that I could send it to Mr and then sat a cried.  I had done it!  I proceeded to carry that heavy bird back to the house, called it in, strung it up, and proceeded to clean (butcher) it.  I admire you guys that clean turkeys...it is not easy!  Had 10 inch beard, just over 1 inch spurs, and weighed 18 pounds.  I re-weighed him because I did no have my glasses on the first time!.  Have a great day!!

        Thank you Mrs. BilletHead for sharing.  Would it be OK if on a public forum I say I love you . I will post pictures later on tonight when I get home.  And people she ran the weed eater and mowed the yard too. I should go out of town more often,

 That is a great story!  I can just imagine the thoughts and the feelings that was pulsating through your mind and body at that moment!  It is a moment that will be cherished forever !

I don't think I'm going to get a chance this year!  That's the luck of the weather sometimes.

Alot of gals hunt and fish with their significant other, but darn few go at it alone.

I am still so very pumped about shooting a turkey on my own!!  I did forget to say that while sitting there I did do a small amount of mouth calling.  I did get the gobbler to answer me. Not the best calling ever but hey he called back to me!!  Mr Billethead was very proud of me and that made it all worthwhile.  He was impressed with the spurs and beard.  I saved them in the fridge.  I feel really good and a lot of my friends and co-workers gave me a kudos for doing this!!  Thanks for all your comments...they mean a lot to me!!

Way to go!!  Its been awhile since i got anything.  Even the morels this year got the better of me.    And Mr. Billethead i think your wife deserves some turkey and a glass of wine.  ( you can cook right?l

Congrats on a great Bird! Myself and the rest of the Folly family are very proud you and of your accomplishment!  I agree with my betterhalf that a glass of the Seven Deadly Zins may be deserved. Congrats again!
