dtrs5kprs Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Lot of threads ongoing about ramps. Here's a suggestion. If you absolutely want to fish, pick up the phone and start calling resorts to see if they have vacancies. Off the top of my head, Schooner Creek Resort, Lighthouse Lodge, and Kimberling Oaks all have ramps, or roads going to ramps, where you can put in. Not suggesting just calling to see if you can launch. But what is cheaper? Spending the money on a room and launching privileges, or fixing a torn up fender or prop, because you hit something trying to launch. Bassmod, Flysmallie and motoman 3

motoman Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Yup, lots of cancellations when we were down. Most smaller resorts are reasonable enough that times like this; one night stay in one of their cheap rooms, could give you 2 full days to launch and fish as much as you want. Donna G 1

Maybe split a two bedroom rate between two boats, fish without driving all over or tearing things up, go home. motoman 1
Members NebSchmidty Posted May 5, 2017 Members Posted May 5, 2017 Add Still Waters to the list. We'll be down there for 8 days beginning tomorrow. I called this morning and confirmed they had docks up and slips available. Their going rate for the hotel size rooms is around $60/nt (no idea on availability), plus a little extra if you want a slip. I launched from their main marina drive near the peak of April '11, so should be fine at 930+. If you see a white & red triton fish/ski putting around that neck of the woods, say hi. Hoping to contribute a few reports for the good of the cause. dtrs5kprs and big c 2
m&m Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 State park ramp is now open. I just drove by there and the barricades are down and ramp is open. Mike Ketchup and dtrs5kprs 2

Hoping to contribute a few reports for the good of the cause. When we pulled out of Still Waters last Friday night, their main ramp by their marina was already unservicable. The water would have been over the hood of the Tahoe before the trailer would have been deep enough to load the boat. However, the "south" ramp on the other side of the property was just fine and I can't imagine that it wouldn't still be now. Pretty steep grade and at least 60 - 70 feet of ramp was out of the water when we pulled out - probably more. A 10' - 30' slip was $21 per night and the docks were extremely nice although security is only provided at the main marina dock. Biggest drawback was there were kids all over the place - docks, parking lot, you name it. One morning when I went down there were two of 'em about eight years old standing on the back deck of the Ranger. For some reason they never were seen around the boat or dock again the rest of the week although I can't for the life of me imagine why? Again, it is private though. Update on this post - I was WRONG! Even the ramp at Still Waters is long gone. Rode up there yesterday evening and it's way higher than I visualized. In fact, nothing about what I saw yesterday even vaguely resembles the lake I remember from the week before last. Wow. We were able to put in at State Park without issue but it was a zoo over there as one might imagine. Still, there was quite a bit more boat traffic than I would have expected but, again, WOW. The folks at State Park and the area marinas have done some super human work getting these facilities functional under the current circumstances. Although some services are compromised to varying degrees depending upon location it's still pretty awesome what they've accomplished and that they've done it all under conditions that far exceed the term "challenging".
