As long as it isn't illegal it is up to their own conscience.  I'm not a fan of spearing or arrowing game fish, but evidently some folks like it,  In regard to big fish not tasting good, most folks have no idea what a certain fish tastes like because they hide the flavor with spicy breadings, tartar sauce, etc.  Just think of all the big bass hanging on peoples walls gathering dust.  Makes no sense to me to kill a trophy when a picture and/or replica would work..

Well just to weigh in another opinion, I'm not knocking the divers right to shoot fish legally or the skill required to do it. But why not focus on shooting carp and gar (not the endangered alligator)? Bigger fish, more skill involved and very little backlash. Like all kept fish, I hope these at least wound up on a plate. I'm not sure about the regs on spear fishing but aren't bow fishermen limited to certain species? Seems the same would apply to spear fishing. No CPR with that technique.

My biggest problem with this is that spears are far too inefficient. I find that I can't successfully deplete the fish populations of my favorite rivers/streams that way, so I've gone exclusively to dynamite and gillnets.

It's effective, but still not quite enough. I'm currently exploring the possibility of utilizing nuclear technology in angling. It's a slightly different modification of the "A-rig" and the splitting of every atom in the stream, fish, and surrounding land reduces fillet time considerably.
