jpb2187 Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Stopped by Busch on the lunch break, while I was driving to 35 I saw a big brown mass in the left middle of the road. As I approached I realized it was an owl sitting on the gravel road, basically laying there with his wings spread out. Was going to get out of the car to see if he needed any help, but he took off and went into a tree. Glad he got up and didn't get run over by someone else. Big Keene, Mitch f and Daryk Campbell Sr 3

You probably interrupted his bath. birds sometimes get down fine dirt and dust themselves as a form of insect control. I guess mites don't like the dust. snagged in outlet 3 1
Old plug Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Owls have there ways. I had one follow me from tree to tree up and sown a small cove tring to steal my top water bait. .
jpb2187 Posted May 16, 2017 Author Posted May 16, 2017 How'd you do on the lake? The picture of the Owl was the only thing to write about...
timinmo Posted May 16, 2017 Posted May 16, 2017 Over the weekend I was fishing a small lake near Jeff. City. In the morning I was all the way back in one cove throwing a top water and a barred owl came down after it. I thought it was cool at first but then realized if he got caught I was going to have my hands full. I could not reel faster than he could fly but at the last minute he flared off and sat in a tree. He would watch the lure when I cast then look at me. This went on for several minutes until I paddled away. That evening I was fishing a different cove once again all the way in the back and caught a small bass. This lake has been sampled by MDC and they stated that several hundred small bass should be taken out each year. The owl showed up while I was battling the fish and instead of releasing the fish I threw it up on the bank. Well the owl watched the fish and me for some time but when the fish made it to the edge of the water, he had had enough. Down he came grabbed the fish and flew off with it. I thought it was all pretty cool. snagged in outlet 3, Big Keene, bkbying89 and 2 others 5
Old plug Posted May 17, 2017 Posted May 17, 2017 That os exactly the kind of thing happened to me. except for the fish. I did a lt of hollering abd screaming at him every time he startee to take a shot at the plug. At the end I thought he was going to just ignore me and come get the plug. But he left. I did not fosh that cove throughly . Had I made a lot of cast Inam sire he wouod have gotten it.
