As I woke up today the thought came into my mind about how blessed we are to live in this great Nation.....because of the freedoms that we have I can do the following:

1. Complain about the weather and how it mucked up my fishing :)

2. Read about how my internet friends did while fishing.....and living vicariously through them ;)

3. Hug my wife / children / grand kids.....I know I don't look that old. I just started early!

4. And the list goes on

All because of those men and women that are and have fought from the armed services to my local fire and police to make sure that this is as safe a country as can be - thank you Lord

All have a safe day today.

p.s. looking forward to reading ramp stories

Thanks, C4F, for a great post and especially for including our police and firefighters. In my book, they deserve the same recognition as our military serving at home and abroad.

Mostly, though, may God's peace and comfort fall on the families and friends of those who gave all, including the family of the deputy in Mississippi killed this weekend. For gosh sakes, this guy did puppet shows for kids when he wasn't chasing after bad guys.

Blessings to all OAFers today and enjoy your time off ... just please take a moment to remember the reason.

Thanks to all the people that have fought for our freedom and the people that keep us safe from day to day....

I know everything about nothing and know nothing about everything!

I echo all the thanks to those who help keep us safe both here and abroad. I'm proud to live in this great country. With all our faults and problems America is still the best place on earth!!!

Just remember it's not for us veterans but for those who are not here today. Many friends who gave their lives for this country, not what they believed, but for their country. Many wars were not popular but they served. God bless them all. They are the heroes.

Only 1 dead in my crew. T.C. Was a good pilot. Nailed the hook every time on Ranger. Got zapped with a stinger in Kuwait. Was flying a harrier at the time. Dads Uncle Will Roy died on Normandy beach. Is what it is. Some die, but we remember them.

Thanks for the reminder C4F.  We definitely owe a lot to many men and women who have paid the ultimate price military, police, and firemen. I had the opportunity to go to Normandy a few years ago and it was quite sobering to see the American Cemeteries. We owe a lot to a great many for sure.
