"Dozens" was not an exaggeration, unlike comments on this thread against this business. None of you sit where I am, here on the lake, everyday, and see what I see. That boat (one boat) will not throw any bigger wakes than what we see from this boat with a 50 horse motor running 1/3rd throttle and plowing a line. We see it every day. I'm not saying the jet boat won't throw wakes... I'm saying its wakes won't be any bigger than other boats. I sit on my dock everyday Lilly and have everyting from small flatbottom boat 50 ft cruisers come by. Been doing ot for 25 yrs. All kinds of wakes and I do not see how that boat loaded down with people will not displace a lot of water. Besides that It looks dangerous for passengers and other boat traffic. It is nothing more than a expensive thrill ride. That boat is going to have to be moving pretty fast to get up on high plane as well. You said you were not promoting it Lilly. Maybe not by the definition of the word. Lets just say your supprying it whole heartdly

Lets just say your supprying it whole heartdly My argument is simply you think the boat will displace enough water to throw big enough wakes to harm, create problems -- more than other boats. May be you're right, may be your wrong. But you don't really know, yet you condemn it. The one video we have as evidence of that boat shows very little wake thrown against a dock it went by. We need more evidence (again, on that boat, not another boat that looks like it) to deturmon if you're right. Note: I'm not saying "if you're right or am I" because I've never rendered an opinion. I'm pointing out speculation and assumptions. I'm not condeming people who don't like it... I don't blame them! It will be loud and bothersome... but so is Gator's boat to some people. That doesn't mean he should be banned from running his boat on Taneycomo. And I've been on my dock for 34 years so that makes me a better expert Gatorjet, Seth, grizwilson and 4 others 7
MOBass Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 While I did no see it running I did see the jet boat at the landing Saturday. The wake from that thing might be a concern to some, but I saw a few other things that as I boater I will have to be aware of. In addition to the stand up paddle board and kayak rentals at the landing there are also 'water bikes', both peddle and trolling motor powered on the water. They are up higher than 'yaks and were easy to see, still something else to watch for. There were also CraigCats at a dock that appear to be for rent and I saw a couple of them running around. They were moving pretty quick so hopefully the people that rent them use some common sense and not run out in front of someone.

Like the majority of boating accidents that involve PWCs, the people renting the CraigCats will quite often be more intent on their ride than safe operation of the vessel. Not sure if it was a rental, or owned by the user(s). A stand up paddle board with three people on it. One bikini clad chick laying on the back, another sitting straddled on the front, and Mr. Macho standing up in the middle. None of which wearing a PFD!!! Real men go propless!

You do realize the "blaring" music in the videos is just that. In the videos. It's a background trac added to the video! well if you watch this vid at 20:40 several are well reacting to to the music, so unless Granny is head banging to a whisky induced weekend I think the music is on the boat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-f7jKKApvDs&t=2245s and on this one at minute 22:00 on the driver is telling his group "he couldn't afford any more tickets" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HpzkRHUjT2g&t=691s MONKEYS? what monkeys?
