m&m Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 How about this...."ALL boats longer than 25' in length are allowed to operate faster than idle speed ONLY on the main channel of Table Rock Lake AND ONLY during the hours of 9am and 8pm AND ONLY between the 86 bridge and the highway 13 bridge. While operating in all other areas of Table Rock Lake including coves at all times boats longer than 25' must operate at idle speed." Thoughts? Mike big c 1

I don't think boats were involved in the deal though........ magicwormman 1 "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." Targa98 Posted June 28, 2017 Posted June 28, 2017 I agree 100% mike, however something like that just won't happen, like everyone else has said, there's just too much $ in it for everyone else. We recently had to make an emergency trip to Campbell Point Marina while fishing, I went inside for the first time and was surprised by the fact there was not 1 piece of equipment in there to accomidate any sort of fishing. Not a single piece of tackle, nothing for the livewells, Nothing at all. It is 100% geared towards the pleasure boaters. There is just too much money in it for them tochanr. And that is bad news for us fishing guys. Gotta get up early for our little piece of the lake!!! JMO vernon 1

JMO If you recall, our taxes and license fees just recently got put towards awarding this Marina owner with a nifty $100,000.00 "award" for something like providing "service facilities" for larger boats (over 26 feet in length). https://mdc.mo.gov/newsroom/mdc-recognizes-campbell-point-marina-enhancements
skeeter Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 We have somewhat of a view of the rock Bluff where both Indian Creeks empty into the White (Baxter) and where the kids have a good time jumping off that Bluff while the spectators' boats mill around in front of the Bluff. So we're sitting out enjoying the lakeview and watching the "festivities" and "recreation" on the water over last weekend when we hear these BIG engines approaching from the North.....here comes an offshore-racer "Cigarette" Boat of at least 40 feet in length and the "dude" running it pulls in close to the Bluff and SLOWS DOWN to "plowing speed" so he and the others with him can take a gander at the Bluff-jumping. The Battleship immediately starts throwing at least a four foot wake and causes the spectator boats to bob-around like corks in a hurricane and people in them were clearly observed getting tossed around and grabbing for whatever they could hold onto. It's pretty deep there and hardly anyone has anchor lines that long so most boaters maintain their positions by idling. The "dude" running the Battleship decides to resume his 80 mph "run" and takes off after "plowing" for the entire length of the Bluff face and the "fleet" is seen hastily backing away from the jump-off area and the face of the rock Bluff and each other where several boats have been washed into each other. magicwormman and dtrs5kprs 2

Browning Guy Posted June 29, 2017 Posted June 29, 2017 My "you gotta be kidding" story from Sunday. Deck boat/pontoon twin outboards of some sort moving a ways past idle speed (plow speed) in heavy 3' swells with 5 adults sitting on the bow, no life jackets. The speed he was going.........., I don't know if he could have shutdown and trimmed up before he pureed one of them if they fell over the front. At least it wasn't kids on the front. Evidently you slap your money (and common sense) down and they hand you the keys. If you watch some of the YouTube stuff from LOZ you will see the very near future of TR. Do we call the Water Patrol every time we see stupid and hope eventually the WP will get tired of stupid and call on our "leaders" to slow things down? Not sure what the answer is, but I sure would like to see folks get together on slowing the TR to LOZ south transformation. Skeeter, do you have a good enough view to watch these tuna rig owners (of big egos) getting into it over boat wakes? Might be a good way to spend the weekend. A cooler, grill, lawn chairs and music as you sit back and watch the "fireworks". Might head to Mill creek ramp Saturday a.m. with a cooler and lawn chair. P.M. might be better when they're all cranky, drunk and sunburn trying to load out. Cheap entertainment right there. Daryk Campbell Sr, Champ188 and magicwormman 3
