Oh my! The drive it off the lot depreciation will exceed what I spent for my boat new last year. On a related note has anyone been in one of these and can tell me how they compare to glass?

I haven't been in a new Lund V - Bass, but I've been in the single console 18' Tracker version of it...  and that is one sweet boat.  Decks are big enough to square dance on, sits down level and rocks only a tiny bit when you step on the gunnels.  Nice dry ride through 2 footers.  Lids, console, and hardware are solid as a rock.  Ran 52 mph dry with a 115 XS Opti. and no passenger.

I sincerely hope that I can still buy a new 521C for less than $70,000 when I retire in a year or so.  If not, I will have to keep what I have to fish out of or look elsewhere. It will hurt a lot, but I'm not willing to jeopardize the kids college funds for a 521C. Been my dream rig for 5 years now, oh well.  I'm confident Mr. Wood is reading my post here, PLEASE start building boats again and make them with affordable quality.

Not that I'm in the market for a new Ranger.......................I did hear about a dealer over in Kentucky that was wheeling and dealing. I believe a guy bought a 521 for 56 grand. He saved a ton by driving to Kentucky to pick it up. It's hard to support the locals with that kind of savings.

I bought a new Z 519 Ranger last summer and as soon as I got it home Minn Kota came out with the Ultrex and Humminbird came out with newer Helixes. Hard to keep up. I ordered a new Ultrex, but that is back ordered. My last Ranger was with me for 14 years, and I hope I live that long to fish this one 14 years.

You got that right!

I did the same deal on the Ultrex after buying my boat in March but I'd bet most anything that you won't regret the cost of the upgrade.  I got $900 for my Fortrex so that assuaged the pain a little bit.

As for the electronics, they'll change another ten times before I'll figure out how to utilize the Lowrance's I've got now so I'm not looking to change anything in that regard.  All the new technology stuff has just blown way past my old dude level of comprehension.

I had my previous Ranger for 12 years and it was the first time that I'd kept one more than five.  It was just a really, really good boat.

Nonetheless, I personally was amazed at the level of improvement from my old 520 to the new Z521.

Hope your experience has been similar!

edyer, we hope you live that long also so you can enjoy your Ranger. BUT, just in case, you might want to create the "for sale" ad with instructions to post the ad on the forum so your family doesn't have to worry about that too. lol

I need to do that for all of my stuff.  If I died and my wife sold everything for what she thinks I paid for it she would short change herself quite a bit! lol

All my stuff is TOD.time of death to my kids..so when I kick the bucket they get everything..

Here is a simple formula To use to decide if you need a new one.

Somebody is hanging with the whitewater paddling crowd 😉. I helped pay my way trough college doing whitewater kayak instruction. I sold my playboat when I got married. Now I just have a layout boat for duck hunting and a bass boat for fishing.

Getting ready to sell my layout boat though.
